Heng, 22 Oct 2010Hi, i tried to do hard reset my milestone, however, after h... moreSorry! but the best way before you install 2.2.1, you would root your Milestone first, then boot to 1Ghz or 1.2Ghz, then install 2.2.1.
Try to update your Milestone to 2.1 again via the official Moto update from your phone on the internet.
But I will advance you to also go to a good Milestone forum to learn how to remove the 2.2.1 and if I find another way around, I will let you know or just enjoy the 2.2.1 for now it's also fast and good.

Heng, 22 Oct 2010Hi Droid Terminator, I have downloaded the milestone overcl... moreIf you have android 2.2.1 already in your Milestone, you must procede by a Hard Reset Factory on your Milestone first. Be carefull Hard Reset delete all your data and format your memory. So you need to remove your sim card, External memory, and take all the informations from the internal memory by doing a backup or manually.
Then your system will go back to android 2.1. So from here root your phone.

After that you can overclock your Milestone to 1Ghz or 1.2Ghz
Finally re-install android 2.2.1 than you have a super phone.

To root Milestone with android 2.1, you need to follow the instructions on this link.

So rea... moreHi Droid Terminator, I have downloaded the milestone overclock from the link, however, it doesn't work with my milestone 2.2.1, they said can not load module, need rooted device. However, i already rooted my milestone 2.2.1 with universal androot app. any advise? thanks.
One more thing, how can i install the Froyo launcher to my milestone 2.2.1? please advise, thanks very much.

Android is also excellent. Screen on the milestone is tops. Keyboard is not laid out perfectly but i hardly use it cos the on screen keyboard is better anyway

If it turns into a dud, I'll chuck it to Capetown from Durban, so watch out if it comes flying over Table Mountain and hits you on the head (I used to be an Olympic Javelin thrower!!!!)

Anyway, MTN's Data Plan aren't bad here:
R10 for 10Mb
R49 for 75Mb
R149 for 300Mb
Android so on.
MotoSat is free for the first 60 days offline than you must pay. I didn't apply for it because I using Google Map or Google Earth online.
Let me tell you Milestone got DVD quality video record, widescreen 3.7 with android 2.1 but become very fast with android 2.2.1, which bring more featurings.

I have got the phone and it is wonderful device!!! I love it, Android is such a great OS. But the keyboard could be a little bit bigger.

After flash the new firmware, now mine is running 2.2.1, however, the icon doesn't change, it is the same as 2.1, but now i can move to SD card, that is great now. and everything work just fine, 3G, Wifi... are ok.
However, i can not overclock it yet, can you advise me how to overclock it?

Ya, I see MTN have got the Milestone for a good price with R200 airtime (total R259 p/m). Just worried about buying it and having problems with it. I really want a good screen (resolution and size) so Milestone looks tops and slide out querty. Hope that their backup is good and there are no problems with the set. I'm in Durbs. Most of report on this site look favourable. How long have you had yours for? It will be my 1st Smartphone, so I'm sure that I will battle until I work the OS out.

PS. How good is MTN Mobile Internet and is pricing favourable (data bundles) as I'm currently on Vodacom. Their contracts are not good (120 weekend mins - got free calls on w/end and a/h with Telkom)and 'pay in' for a decent set is too pricey.
PS again. How much is Motonav licence in SA (voice guided) for Milestone.
