Alvin, 02 Jun 2010In the moto forum, so many milestone owners facing hardware... moreHere is what happened in my area regarding Milestone:

Released with Android 2.0 in late Dec - with some issues.

Released Android 2.0.1 - fixed all the issues of 2.0

Released Android 2.1 around Mar / Apr - again with a few issues for those who "upgraded" from the previous versions. No problem was reported for those who bought the phone "brand new" as 2.1

Released Android 2.1 UPDATE last weekend - fixed all the issues of Android 2.1 above.

I bought mine with 2.0.1 and upgraded to 2.1 UPDATE last weekend, no reboot or Crystal Talk problem at all.

Bigboy, 02 Jun 2010Thanx for the reply bro, can you please tell me exactly how... moreHad the same problem with importing my contacts on the Milestone from Outlook.
Here is how I worked it out (takes a little effort).
The Milestone can import vcard files from the SD Card.
Outlook can only export one contact at a time as a vcard file.

BEFORE YOU FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BELOW, READ THE IMPORTANT NOTE APPENDED AT THE END.

I searched the web for: +vcard +export +freeware and located some softwares. Only one is really freeware and I did not think it would work so I downloaded a 30-day trial of "MessageSave".
The trial version exports only 50 outlook contacts at a time.
After installation of MessageSave,an icon appears on the Outlook toolbar (don't use it). Instead, select 50 contacts (my monitor would show 25 contacts per screen, so it was easy to select two screens at a time using shift-click), right-click on them and click on the MessageSave choice in the context sensitive menu.
A new window opens titled: MessageSave - Save Messages.
See to it that options are displayed at the bottom 3/4 of the window, otherwise click on the options button. Once the options are seen, select "vcard (.vcf)" in the FORMAT box.
By default, the first choice on this window is selected ie "Save Selected Messages". Note that it says MESSAGES, does not make any difference, as it refers to the contacts.
Choose or create a destination folder.
I did not use the button "more options", you may find it useful.
Click on "Save now". Your selected contacts will be exported and a new file called "FirstName LastName.vcf" will be created for each contact.
Go on selecting the next 50 contacts and repeat the procedure for each set of 50 contacts. I did this for about 784 contacts!
Now you will have as many files in the destination folder as you have contacts in Outlook.
Copy all these files onto your Milestone's SD card using Windows Explorer (provided the handset has been connected to the PC), preferably in a separate folder.

Now open the contacts application (or folder as one may call it) on the phone. It will say "no contacts" or something like that. Tap the Menu button (second from left on the bottom of your phone screen) and then tap on "Import/Export". Next choice on your phone screen will be (one of 3 choices) "Import from SD card" - tap on it. No need to say from which folder, your phone will pick up all the *.vcf files from the SD card and voila, all your contacts are transferred. Don't forget to see the IMPORTANT NOTE at the end before doing ANYTHING.
One important thing here, when you connect the handset, the Motorola Media Link software would normally start. On the icon of Motorola at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, right click on it and select "START Motorola Phone portal on connecting the hand set" or start the Phone portal in some other way (I haven't researched it all yet - bought the handset a week back and just finished importing contacts yesterday!).
Also, when you connect the handset to your computer using the USB cable, on your phone's screen you will see a message on have the phone should connect to the PC via the cable eg: Phone portal, only charging, etc. On your handset, tap Phone portal. This is not really necessary now, but will help you to edit any contacts later on.
One can do the import operation even from there after opening the Contacts tab on your PC. Another tip, there is even a choice of importing from an Outlook .csv file. I have not tried it.

              IMPORTANT NOTE:
In your Outlook contacts (especially if you have been using a Windows Mobile phone as I was doing), if you have created a new contact in the Business category thereby leaving the First Name and Last Name fields blank, the contacts will be imported to your mobile and the name field will be filled up by the telephone number of the Company you had entered. This causes a big headache (as it did for me), but you can still edit these numbers using the Motorola phone portal program on your PC using simple cut-copy-paste and edit the contact in that program. Better will be to first edit the contact (copy-paste from Company field to First Name field) and then use the export process.

Hope this works out for you.

Incidentally this is the FIRST time I am posting a reply on any web forum and feeling GREAT for having helped (I am sure it will work out for you).

              All the best.

              SMALLBOY!

In the moto forum, so many milestone owners facing hardware and software problems like auto restart every hours, the other party cant hear the conversation and so on. I myself have very bad experience with Moto a few years back. I think I better get legend or iphone 3gs.
