Apart from coming soon to Sprint and Boost Mobile in the US, the Motorola i1 will also be launched in Latin America, where NII Holdings offers iDEN services under the Nextel brand.

NII Holdings and Motorola will bring the i1 to Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, as Latin America’s first Push-to-Talk Android smartphone.

The handset is rugged, runs Android 1.5 and it’s by far the best-looking iDEN device ever. It features a 3.1 inch HVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, Google Maps, Swype text input, Nextel Live, Opera Mini 5, Facebook access, MP3 player, 5MP camera with flash, and MicroSD card support.

In HK we just received an updated version of Android 2.1 called 2.1 Update (or 2.1.1 as I interpret), which drastically improved most major issues of 2.1, such as Crystal Talk, MP3 player, etc...

I'll probably update mine this weekend...Of course, 2.2 is around the corner in June as well, and I do look for the radio function to be installed in my Milestone.

Seems like Milestone owners maybe on Android 2.3 (if not 2.4 or 2.5) when users of X10 gets 2.1...

Chris, 26 May 2010isnt in a simple choice? If you want a qwerty keyboard and ... moreRelatively speaking, Legend is not a "phone" when being compared to Milestone, as Motorola offers its exclusive Crystal Talk technology, which makes a phone being a phone. Legend "relatively" speaking is a multi-media device.

                      I use the stock browser.

About motorola locking the device... you can still root it. You can even install mods. You can't, however, install anyhing that uses another system kernel, AFAIK.

I bought one and I love it. But be aware of that specific limitation. It's not a problem to me, so it's a perfect phone for my uses. I could not need a better one. As usual, your mileage may vary.

if you choose android hoping that you can customize the phone. then you better go for HTC. because moto lock the bootloader of milestone. go google bout this issue before you make your decision. i already regret my decision buying 1

Motorola expects Android 2.2 update to hit Droid 'in the near future'

Hearing Google say that Android 2.2 would be filtering out to the Nexus One in short order was no huge shock -- after all, it's Google's first smartphone. But for those who purchased Motorola's first heavy-hitter since the RAZR, it looks as if they'll be close behind in enjoying the spoils. According to a Motorola spokesperson quoted at Slashgear (full statement is past the break), the company is expecting the original Droid to get Android 2.2 "in the near future," though he / she wouldn't go so far as to provide specifics beyond that. Better still, the same person stated that Motorola is excited about Froyo in general, and it's "looking forward to integrating it on [the firm's] Android-based devices as [the software] is made available." We hate to read too deeply into anything, but "devices" sure gets our digits tingling
