There isn't a 'silent' mode on Lollipop because Google decided that we don't need it anymore!
Amazing, isn't it. I've been able to select 'Silent' on every mobile I've owned in the last 20 years.
The good news is following lots of complaints, Google is going to include it again the the forthcoming Android 5.1 which will also correct a lot of other problems that Google made with Lollipop.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of 'Mute' apps available on the Play Store which will work until this mess is sorted out.

recently I flashed my moto g to 4.4.2 (after done some msg show flash failed but phone working fine.) then i have updated to 4.4.4 via recovery update zip. ever since then my phone is dead. please help me guy or reply to amitrana761@gmail.com. i did some search they say might be a problem in motherboard but when i plug to moto g original charger my phone notification led blink. is my phone gone for ever? help reply as soon as possible

I flashed my phone to 4.4.2(when I did it boot-loader mention flash failed something) then updated to 4.4.4 (i don't like lollipop) ever since that my phone is dead. You've got it wrong, I don't hate Lollipop,... moreyou are right about dialer ...it is lagging in my phone...now about design some people likes it and some people doesn't , so it all comes to personal preference.
i also agree that kitkat is more stable.. may be next update(5.0.3 or 5.1) may fix everything ...lets see..)

aniket, 26 Jan 2015Yes. Me having the same problem after lollipop update! i have to increase the level of brightness upto an extent to make it stop blinking. havent found any valid fix for that yet. need to search more. but overall i like the update

You've got it wrong, I don't hate Lollipop, I just hate the mess Google made of it. I have it on my Nexus 5, and it didn't take long to find it's shortcomings. Lollipop has it's good points,e.g. ART runtimes, which was long over due; but it was rushed out without proper testing.
Aesthetically it is ugly! The dialer looks like something out of the 80's. I had to use Exdialer to make it look anywhere presentable, and Chomp SMS for messaging.
Then look at all the complaints users are posting here and on the Nexus 5 Forum for this rushed out mess. It shouldn't happen, and it is disgraceful that Google has to issue an update to correct the faults after such a short time after release.
My Moto G is going to stay on KitKat until Google get it right, because right now it isn't!

I got the update notification 3 days ago...that time I didn't do the update... But now I have lost the update...now whenever I go to settings the checkup page show the software is upto date...when I chat to motorola support team, they told to do factory reset...but after factory reset, I still could not find the update...now how can I get the lollipop update...my mobile model is xt1033 ..... someone help me...

nice update........... for anyone who cannot upgrade to lollipop upgrade your motorola assist from play store then u can find lollipop update in system updates.......on the whole it is very nice..

BTW , I know you hate lollipop and its better you stay with your KitKat. or you can sue Google for cheating you with lollipop..:) ...so stop whining
