Also I noticed this model has got thermal throttling issues. It reduces x55 modem speeds when gets warm / hot.

Upgraded to this from a huawei p10 lite. Absolutely love the phone - feels like the last one that still has good specs, headphone jack and expandable storage. For me things like dual speakers, fast charging and OLED screen doesn't matter. What really is a shame is the processing on moto camera - it makes many of the macro photos useless because it smoothens them too much. I recommend using the pro photo mode and jpeg + raw setting for macro shots, for other photos i always use a gcam port that someone made for this phone.
Ready For is really underrated, every phone should have usb video output and a desktop environment is a cherry on top.

Bought this for a paltry 210€ with the dock, rubber case and all the cables. At that price, it's a steal and a must buy. Android 12 improves performance while navigating through menus. Macro camera is really good. Other cameras are decent in daylight, poor in dark conditions. Great battery life, even when using wifi all day long. Finally, design wise I really love it. I got the Iridescent ocean finish and it looks amazing. Plastic backplate does somehow attract fingerprints though. The camera bump is also minimal, meaning that it won't swing side to side when put flat on a table.
Overall very happy with it.

BAD:
camera quality
display (IPS 90Hz, most others with this HW and price class uses OLED 120Hz)
display too wide, bad for horizontal use.
back is made of plastic or has some plastic quality to it, light scratches after 1 year of use inside a case.
good:
3.5mm jack, the reason I bought this phone.
OS with little/medium motorola bloat
hardware inside (870 and 650)
a LOT of storage + RAM

The camera isn't as good as it should be, I agree. I love the phone though but recently I've been getting a lot of ghost touches - especially when using Gmail and Google Calendar.
I love being able to choose the volume of 2 different apps at the same time. It means I can listen to a podcast and play a game quietly at the same time.
It's a great function of this phone. I'm reluctant to upgrade to Android 12 in case I lose the dual volume control function though.

The bad: Despite having flagship internals, the phone feels midrange all along. The design is non streamlined, just to big to be comfortable in your pocket or in your hands (and I'm big handed). The camera feels lackluster coming from a flagship device with OIS. The motorola flavored Android OS has some issues thst never got solved like audio misfunctioning after using bluetooth devices, task switcher not showing apps correctly.
The Good: Great Battery Life. The macro camera feature is suprisingly useful. The OS is mostly untouched with very discrete motorola additions. OS updates are relatively fast. 3.5mm jack is still great to have. The screen is fluent but for some reason the OS seems to flow/scroll choppier than expected.

This phone is flagship grade with sd870 that can play & record videos upto 4k/6k that g82 cant due to its crap sd695 soc.

For that price, you will not find a better phone in 2022. I bought it mostly for the processor speed, which is comparable to Pixel 6, but $300 less.

Indeed, it's a shame they don't make bright LCD screens like those anymore.

NeonHD, 03 Jul 2022Well at this price range you can't really expect too m... moreI'd say camera wise it's comparable to other G series phones. It's got power of Edge series but everything else is G series. It's actually known as Edge S and G100 at the same time! Edge 20 pro has much better cameras.
Yeah that's a problem with lcd nowadays. Don't know why they don't make them brighter than amoleds, I mean lcd should able to get brighter in theory.
I think they made high brightness a premium feature, only flagships have good brightness level and no flagship is lcd.
