It cannot change or disappear unless user does something deliberate about doing such an unethical stuff.
OR
Your phone was a replica which used a temporary IMEI ( some expert can confirm).

What a disappointing phone !!
Its shelf life is less than 3 months.
The battery drains too often. I need to charge it full in every 5 hrs a day.
And one fine day its IMEI number disappeared. I could no more make the calls or surf the internet either via sim or WiFi.
To restore IMEI i went from 1 service centre to another and all disappointed me by saying that online purchase has only 1 month warranty so need to purchase another.
Its been 35 days and i think my phone must be idly lying in some service centre of some other city.
Only one phrase all i could say about Moto G4 Plus is that it is a Pathetic-Phone.

All the specs r great ... morePerform a FDR set up as new device go to the play store set to auto update over wifi only go do something else as it takes a while plug in charger before you do it when it is done make sure the battery is fully charged unplug don't know what updated app it did but something took care of the heating issue leave it set for updates as you will get updates as they are ready that's what I did& no heating issue since

World's third class phone. Please never buy it. Here are its problems.
1. Over heating - If you record video for 15 minutes then please keep child away from the phone otherwise you have to admit him in hospital.
2. Camera placement - I have a cover though there is so many scratches on camera lance.
3. Battery backup is very poor. You have to charge twice in a day
