Moto G82 review
Introduction and specs
The Moto G82 is one of Motorola's mid-range offerings announced back in May this year, and yes, this review has been a long time coming. But the G82 is finally here and now that its price has fallen under the €300 mark, it's also a fairly intriguing device. There's also a Chinese variant called Moto G71s and one could make a case that the G82 is a slightly upgraded version of the Moto G71 5G for the global market.
The G71 5G and the G82 are quite similar, but the latter brings a better feature set to the table relative to the price tag even. Also, the G82 is a new tier to Motorola's Moto G lineup this year, as there wasn't a G81 last year.
Now that we've established the Moto G82's place in Motorola's portfolio, let's take a closer look at the specs sheet.
Motorola Moto G82 specs at a glance:
- Body: 160.9x74.5x8.0mm, 173g; Glass front, plastic frame, plastic back; Water-repellent design.
- Display: 6.60" AMOLED, 120Hz, 1080x2400px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 402ppi.
- Chipset: Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 695 5G (6 nm): Octa-core (2x2.2 GHz Kryo 660 Gold & 6x1.7 GHz Kryo 660 Silver); Adreno 619.
- Memory: 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM; UFS; microSDXC (uses shared SIM slot).
- OS/Software: Android 12, planned upgrade to Android 13.
- Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.8, 1/2.76", 0.64µm, PDAF, OIS; Ultra wide angle: 8 MP, f/2.2, 118˚, 1/4.0", 1.12µm; Macro: 2 MP, f/2.4.
- Front camera: 16 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 1.0µm.
- Video capture: Rear camera: 1080p@30/60fps; Front camera: 1080p@30fps.
- Battery: 5000mAh; 30W wired.
- Misc: Fingerprint reader (side-mounted); 3.5mm jack; stereo speakers.
At first glance, the Moto G82 has an expected hardware for the asking price with a 6.6-inch 120Hz OLED panel, Snapdragon 695 SoC doing the heavy lifting and 6GB/128GB memory configuration by default. There's also a microSD card if storage isn't enough. Battery is also in line with the 2022 standards - 5,000 mAh supporting 30W of fast wired charging.
Interestingly enough, the 50MP main camera has OIS, which is a rare feature in this class. The company likes to include optical stabilization in its budget phones, which is commendable, but we are a bit worried about the sensor size - 1/2.76". That's a tad smaller than what we would have expected. Still, specs aren't everything, especially when it comes to photography. We've seen a few hidden gems from Motorola in the past, so we might be pleasantly surprised by the G82.
That's why we suggest going through the following pages and finding out whether the Moto G82 is worth your hard-earned money or whether competitors like Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme offer a better value.
Unboxing the Motorola Moto G82
The phone comes in a standard box containing the usual stuff like user manuals, a 33W charger and a USB-A to USB-C cable for data transfer and charging.
There's also a transparent silicone case thrown in there for good measure.

Yes the camera is atrocious. I expected atleast an average camera with this phone. I know that moto phones can't be trusted for camera. Even with gcam image quality is not good. other than that the phone is good.

Great screen, great battery life, great charging speed. Awful, awful camera. And very basic camera software. I've gone back to my 5 year old Honor Play which has a better camera. I'm selling my G82 if anyone wants one.
