Motorola's new philosophy seems to be if you want a 3.5mm jack and SD Card you can't have 4k video (g series) and if you want 4k you can't have a 3.5mm jack and SD card (Edge series).

The Edge 30 Neo had none: no 4k, no jack, no card.

Looking good so far, love the design, Motorola are going strong lately, & this one is no exception

Can't wait to hear more about this

The rule of thumb today is that Qualcomm 7 series or higher means no headphone jack/microSD is allowed. If Motorola used even the old 778g then they'll definitely remove headphone jack and possibly the microSD card too, to compensate for "loss" buying a better chip. This much greed is totally unheard-of in history.

IgorS, 24 Aug 2023Maybe with a SD7xx would make the phone much more expensive... moreHow much more expensive is a 778g compared to 695? Both are old chipsets. Greed from OEMs is out of control.

695 again? Why? What about 778g? Motorola are you listening??

Dante.San, 24 Aug 2023This is just the G82 with a new look and maybe better camer... moreLet me tell you what's different on the G84:
IP 54, dust and splash resistant
Display has 1B colors, HBM's brightness is probably higher
It comes with Android 13 out of the box, so it will get longer software
            Bigger main camera sensor
Ultra wide got a wider field of view, and autofocus so basically 8 MP for macro
            Wi-Fi 6
It's a personal preference but I prefer Under display fingerprint scanners.

This company has gotten so out of touch with its fan base and reality with what costumers demand it isn't even funny anymore.

This is just the G82 with a new look and maybe better cameras... pathetic, zero advancement, the choice of SOCs in general has been terrible in recent years.

bmudallal, 24 Aug 2023It comes with the same chipset of the G82! Kinda disappoint... moreMaybe with a SD7xx would make the phone much more expensive.

I can bet that it will have a solid performance even with a weaker SD chipset. On the other hand, the specs shown here might be much more than enough for daily use without hiccups.

I was surprised by 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage option. This is still rare in Motorola's book and 12GB RAM is always reserved for their flagships.

Great phone! Motorola has always been a great brand right from time.

Finally an interesting and cheap Motorola midrange! This will sell like water in the desert here.

It comes with the same chipset of the G82! Kinda disappointing not to upgrade it to at least a 700 series chipset like the 778. There are good upgrades to the camera department but no 4K shooting is underwhelming.

Finally, an ultrawide camera and 1080p screen, but why SD 695 it can't even do 4k

Wow, a phone with a 5000 mAh battery that weighs less than 170 grams. And it's pretty thin too at 7.6mm

I still have my realme 7 from 2020, and when I look at phones from a similar price segment today, the general midrange phone performance has barely gotten any better (might even say that it got worse on lower-midrange phones).
