weinvantedzero, 25 Aug 2023Moto G5+(SD625) did 4k and that phone is ancient Unfortunatelly that is Qualcomm's fault for limiting their chipset. Motorola's fault for not choosing a better one though, but they have to keep the costs down somehow.

I'm sure they would both be capable of doing so, but if Qualcomm or Mediatek, or whoever makes the chipset, limits said chip, which is what they have done in this case, then it won't be able to record in 4k, no matter how powerful the chipset is.

If you people look for an cheap Motorola phone with snapdragon 700 series you can try with Motorola edge 20, it have snapdragon 778g, UFS 3.1 LPDDR5, amoled with 144hz , 4000 mah battery or Motorola edge 20 pro with snapdragon 870 and 5000 mah battery different than edge 20. I m from Romania and here edge 20 and edge 20 pro are very cheap, edge 20 its 200 euros and Motorola edge 20 pro its 250 euros with 8GB RAM. You guis can try thise phones, i was want to but it but i chose mi 10t pro. I hope thats help you.

However, need better performing chip such as 7+ gen 2 while keeping everything else intact on this phone such as headphone jack and microSD slot.

I'd pay £/$/€100 more to buy this only if it had 7+ gen 2. No midrange phone today exist with good chipset, headphone jack, microSD card, OIS etc. I'll not buy Sony because it's way too expensive. The new HTC has poor chipset.
I want a midrange phone with above features, it's a shame it doesn't exist. I'm looking for an upgrade from Motorola g100 but there's none. What a shame.

Motorola's new philosophy seems to be if you want a 3.5mm jack and SD Card you can't have 4k video (g series) and if you want 4k you can't have a 3.5mm jack and SD card (Edge series).
The Edge 30 Neo had none: no 4k, no jack, no card.
