I have the first Moto G 4G/LTE version (2013), bought and used in Australia. Can't remember now if it was loaded with KitKat to start with, but I did use KitKat 4.4.4 up until a few weeks ago with no problems. I delayed for a while before upgrading to Lollipop 5.1 because I had bad experiences on my 2012 Nexus 7 32GB 3G Tablet ( ran really slow and used battery quickly; have reverted it to KitKat since). The Lollipop 5.1 upgrade on the Moto G went really smoothly and I have had no problems with the Moto G running on that OS. Apart from some visible and operating changes etc the major difference I am impressed with is my battery charge lasts longer than before.

I use this phone for travel and trekking because it is small and has very good features for its price. I also wanted something running almost pure Android, ie without bloatware. At the time this was a really good value phone for the money and hopefully the latest one also is. Like any computer equipment, avoid loading up too many unnecessary apps/programmes; run it lean and mean.

anon, 09 Sep 2015Is it good or waste for money? any lags for hd games/play... moreIt appears that it can play most games reasonably well, but you should look at the reviews on youtube.co.uk

Within YouTube You should search for < Motorola Moto G 4G Games > and search through the list.

              If GSMArena allows my reply.

This is a good device with an acceptable performance to be a mid range phone, however I realized a few days ago, the material for the Battery got hot easily. and get drains quickly....

Still no Lollipop Update. And Yes, I do have my Motorola Updates Services completely updated as per App Information and Playstore's information. And Now we have the Android 6.0 :/
                        Why is that?

Moto G (1st Gen) users need to ensure that they have the latest Motorola Updates Services from the Play Store, otherwise you will not see the future Lollipop upgrade notification. This is not necessary for Moto G (2nd Gen).

Hi! Could anyone tell me please how to update my Moto G 4G in Colombia to Lollipop? I've tried to update on Playstore the Motorola Service Update but is updated already and when I go to "Software Update" it says my Moto G is up to date.
I also have a couple of friends with the Moto G and Moto X (Both 1st Gen) and they recieved the update on the past couple days. :(
                                    Can anyone help me please?

Even though 3rd gen is coming soon XT1039 is still one of the best budget/mid range phones. It's updated with the latest android, but works fine with older one (kitkat). No matter if kitkat or lolipop - you get nice and clean android with only some bloatware. The system performs well, stock launcher is fast and gives you hi-end experience. It's good for both normal, everyday use and developement. Easy root method available and support with custom roms. Battery life is above average, call quality is surprisingly good. Now the negatives - the phone I've bought at Tesco UK was a Vodafone version. It's LED notification light didn't work and I also couldn't unlock the network to use it with different carrier. The only solution was flashing retail rom. Another thing is the lack of double tap to wake up option that makes you use power button every time you want to switch the screen on or off. This can be fixed with additional software. I also find the lack of ability to set 2G network as preferred annoying, because 3G and 4G are massive battery drainers. However, this can also be fixed. Generally, I must say LG L40 I used before is a little bit more user friendly as it has all these options built-in. After all I would recommend this phone anyway.
