If phone were design with IP67-68 water and dust resistant, they usually remove the 3.5mm headphone jack as there aren't any 3.5mm sealed smt connector yet..

point is that it actually does not cost anything to be there other than when not, it forces people to stream the radio instead.
just silly and money grabbing driven logic...

AFAIK, there's usually more cell towers compared to radio towers. So if a radio station goes down, you lose radio in a few KM radius. You will just get lower signal if cell tower is down as it transfers to another nearby tower.
