Techie, 23 Sep 2016The fingerprint sensor must be on the screen side of the ph... moreI didn't want to use the battery mod on my phone that's why I went for Moto Z Force instead of Moto Z, and truth be told battery life of Moto Z Force is excellent, and yeah you're right bout the camera protrusion, once I attached the ballistic nylon case the protrusion was gone.

Jeff, 17 Aug 2016Indeed, the Moto X Force was well known for its durability ... moreThe fingerprint sensor must be on the screen side of the phone due to the different Moto Mods that may be attached to the back of the phone. The camera protrusion is not an issue because the phones were designed to have something attached to the back. The phone comes with a style case that snaps onto the back and makes the camera flush with the back as well as protects the 16 contacts used to connect to the various Moto Mods. I wouldn't advise using the phone without anything on the back because of the potential of damage to either the camera or the contacts.
The battery pack Moto Mod adds wireless charging as well as an additional 2,220 mAh of capacity, so you can wirelessly charge the phone while having something simultaneously connected to the USB C connector.
I have the Moto Z, so even with the battery Moto Mod, it is not terribly thick, and the most awesome thing about this phone with the battery pack, I have had the phone last 36+ hours before needing a charge! Finally a high-performance phone that I can truly use all day without having to worry about running out of power. Absolutely love this phone. The JBL speakers sound pretty good too, and that Moto Mod had a built-in battery that lets the speakers run for several hours before starting to run on the phone's battery.
This is the best execution of modularity that I have seen in a smart phone, I just hope it catches on. I wonder about the lack of marketing I have seen for these - it would be a shame for a design innovation like this to fly under the radar and not be a success to its full potential.
