This phone is feakin ugly.
Motorola cannot seem to master slim, stylish phones that deliver.
Loooking at the specs for this..c'mon.
No vibration for ringers...how hard is that to put on a phone??,
No card slot, no GPS, no EDGE, no USB, bluetooth, no 3G..it goes on and on and on....

What do you have to brag about??
Plus this phone is damn slow...

Well, can a person sms from this cell phone? Does Aitel support it in India? How mansms can b stored in this cell phone? my main criteria is calling and recieving calls and sms'ing, and storing the sms's. Can this cell do this? does it have these options?

      1) It has vibrate capabilities
      2) LED backlight
      3) Box/tube says GSM 900/1800
      4) It is not seeing T-Mobile where I am located in the US. I am going to head into town to see if it's just my location. Seller on eBay said it'd work with T-mobile...
      4) Nice... will never effectively use the text capabilities, didn't get it for that.

              Hi Luis (nybori4u2envy@aol.com)..
The phone is only 900 & 1800 & thereby would not function on 1850 Band. Also all phones nowadays auto switching between bands. So if your phone supports a particular band, it would automatically com into that mode.
I had to sell of my phone at half price today :(
I was really really tired of typing messages which you cannot read in full in one go & plus no outbox. Also no distinction between received & missed calls.Plus one thing is for sure that Moto's claim for 900 mins Talk time is fake ! My phone on full charge lasted only 100 mins of talk time ! I think this one is going to get some bad rapport for Motorola. Also this is the first MADE IN INDIA handset..
Lost INR 800 in 10 days .. Really sad...

Motofone looks like a calculator which is *also* a phone. The way its display is with its 2 rows of old calculator style fonts, it should be priced at 20 US $ or less. Sure the display has a cool new technology called EPD instead of LCD but come on, this isn't a high-school project to have an ancient style 2x6 char display.

For 40 US $ Motorola ought to make the display atleast similar to its C118 phones (multi-line array of pixels) which retail for 40 US $ too but are an older design in terms of their body.

Hope these suggestions reach you Motorola.

motorola will be launching world's smallest phone which will measures 5 x 5 x 1.1 mm in the year 2010 and along with it they are going to give one Microscope free.

I just need to clarify this- Will this phone work in the US? I read below that it will not, but I don't understand this given that the phone works on GSM 850/1900 and GSM 900 / GSM 1800 which both work in the States (Cingular and T-mobile).

I got the phone couple of days ago. Price is very less (Indian Rs 1600) so is the feature.

                            - User cannot differentiate between missed call and attended incoming call from call list.
                            - User cannot have call duration for any number in call list.
                            - NO Calendar, NO Reminder, Limited Ring tones
                            - NO outbox for messages. User cannot save message as draft. NO T9
                            - Phone has NO memory for Phone book or Messages. Everything is stored to SIM card.

Otherwise very stylish and simple phone; so don’t expect much from it. If you have already used mobile having extra features, you can have this phone as secondary phone not your primary phone. Phone is meant for first time phone user with phone use limited to make/receive calls/message nothing more.

However it is (less) value for (less) money.

For those who got the MOTOFONE:

Is there a backlight for the eInk ClearVision display? I like the high contrast big display but it would be useless in the dark without a backlight.

                                Thank you.

This is a Dual Band phone and will not work in USA with any Carrier.

This phone looks nice but has the most stupidest menu layout. The moto engineers needs to get more training on human Interface and the menu layout. If MOTO is targeting this phone for mega markets like India/China/Pakistan then they should have known better that there is high illiteracy rate in these countries and the menu is like a 70's calculator. Long way for Motorola to learn from its competitors. Stupid Engineers should be fired who did the UI of the phone.
