I am stuck with these device's..
have a problem in my fingers.. I can not write on a screen.. I need physical keyboard... 🙄
and the Fxtec @pro1 It's a fortune in Latin America Money 🥶.. so Photon Q for life.. 😅

500% better than Droid 4 In every way (except in storage)
The Photon Q 4G LTE XT897 (code name "Asanti" )
is the unofficial Droid 5... and the last of this device ever made... 😭

Biggest Screen.. software keys.. more RAM.. 1.5Ghz 2 core CPU.. etc etc etc..
it have everything that Droid 4.. but faster.. and better.. 👍
plus some small extras.. 🤏
and is more beautiful.. just the way that the screen frame glow with the notification or Low Bat Light at night.. 🥰
You realize how ridiculously .. how cheap.. ugly.. 🤢 and lack of design and innovation are the current phones 🤮..

Besides the last LinageOS for him..
lineage-14.1-20190213-nightly-asanti-signed.zip
works perfect.... just perfect.. 👍👌👍

you see.. for Droid 4...
lineage-14.1-20190212-nightly-maserati-signed.zip..
crDroidAndroid-7.1.2-20200520-maserati-v3.8.9.zip
they work.. .. but have some issues.. 🤔
in every day use... you find issues.. with the Droid 4...
when you open 2 apps o more.. You are dead in the water.. 🥵

but The Photon with lineage-14.1-20190213-nightly-asanti-signed.zip in the Photon Q...
works better than the stock OS.. 😉

BIG PROBLEM with Photon.. .... (( no SIM slot ))..
have a fixed (solder chip) SIM card.. 😶
You need to mod it physically to remove that chip .. and install a normal SIM card.. or SIM slot in it... 😕
but then it works everywhere through GSM totally stable... i have 2 of them 😎 ... best phone ever made...

AnonD-741279, 28 Feb 2018What does not removble SIM means?Non removable SIM means, it is build for a specific provider like Verizon. You need a hardware hack in order to change the SIM and use another provider.

Brayden, 05 Jun 2016The battery actually is removable, you just need a special ... moreNo, the battery is NOT removable by any practical definition. You need to pry the case apart without damaging any of the plastic clips or case, then you need to remove all the tiny hex screws, then another shorter round of plastic clips, then unscrew the battery leads, then carefully PRY the battery to break the double-sided tape without damaging the components on the circuit board its attached to. The NFC antenna is glued to the battery and basically impossible to remove in one piece, so NFC support is gone. Then you have to again GLUE the battery in place or else you risk it ripping its flex cable after a while.

I've done this four times on various Photon Qs. In TWO of those, the batteries were BULGING so badly they BROKE the hard plastic cases I put on, as well as the microSD card I had in one, and likely would have started a big battery fire in short order, so it's no minor detail that the batteries are not replaceable...

I wish somebody would make Android sliders again. I'm only just keeping a few old Photon Qs limping along. Just make sure they have removable batteries, gorilla glass, more RAM, and FM radios this time...

I've been a user of this phone for 4 years. Every smartphone I've ever had included a keyboard and I'm unable to function without one. I got it repaired when the tape between the screen and keyboard got damaged from too much sliding in/out and because the repair people pried open the device 3 times, I was able to easily pull it apart when I needed to change the battery. The battery is buried under layers of things, which I THINK are originally glued together, but if you get past that boldly, Ebay sells replacement parts for this phone real cheap! My new battery came with a mini pry stick and screwdriver.

As long as the facebook app is kept off this phone, it ran amazingly for a Jellybean, and the keyboard is comfortable to type with. I also like the small, convenient size. This summer, however, the screen's backlight completely gave out, then it just wasn't displaying things anymore despite being on and functional. I bought a $35 used replacement from Ebay that couldn't vibrate and continued with my life. I just needed it for the remaining 2 months of my Sprint contract, so condition was barely an issue

I had to give it up finally when I jumped from Sprint to MetroPCS. I still use it to post on Facebook LITE, Twitter, and Instagram via wifi these days because using the on-screen keyboard on my current phone stresses me out.

The Moto Photon Q was my best digital companion for four years. If anyone wants a keyboard, doesn't mind being stuck on jellybean or using Facebook LITE instead of the official app, I recommend it.

The camera can also record at 60fps at 720p, however you can't view the videos in 60fps, but you can slow the video down by 2x, 4x, 8x, and 16x.

Lol I bought this with sim card slot. When you format this phone you format everything, including it's mac-adresses so no wifi unless you find the right files (they are on XDA somewhere).

Also, the stability of a custom soldered sim is low.

I have bought this phone 3 months ago and up to today I can't use it. As a student this was a lot of money and I need to buy a new one. It's a very bad feeling because furtheron the thing works and looks beautifull. Got my eyes on a Droid 4 now
