The RAZR M and DROID RAZR M are Moto's latest phones

05 September, 2012

As US events usually go, today's Motorola announcement was centered around the new phones they will be releasing through the local carrier Verizon. We already told you about the RAZR HD and RAZR HD MAXX, but Motorola also unveiled the most compact of the family - the RAZR M or the DROID RAZR M, as it would be known in the US.

Both phones are based on the powerful Snapdragon S4 chipsets, featuring 1.5Ghz dual-core CPUs and 1GB of RAM. They will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but are promised Jelly Bean updates by the end of the year.

As the most compact of the trio of phones announced today, the RAZR M has a 4.3-inch almost bezel-less screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. According to Motorola the RAZR M dimensions are typical for smartphones with 3.5" screens. The RAZR M and DROID RAZR M are also pretty slim at just 8.3mm.

On the back of the Motorola RAZR M duo, you will find an extra beefy 2000mAh battery and an 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording. Internal user-available storage is 4.5GB plus there's the usual microSD slot for expanding that.

The Motorola DROID RAZR M has support for Verizon's CDMA+LTE network plus quad-band HSDPA and quad-band GSM support. Motorola doesn't quote the network connectivity support of the international RAZR M ("Bands vary by country"), but we'd guess it's the same as on the DROID RAZR M but sans the CDMA (and possibly LTE) support.

The Motorola DROID RAZR M will start shipping on September 13 with Verizon accepting pre-orders for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate starting today.

Actually this will be the first with dual-core Krait in a mid-ranger available outside of China (Xiaomi). Others use dual krait, or equally powerful quadcore in their high end devices. The Nokia 820, with same CPU, will have much lower screen re...

Oh, and please don't compare the mid-range RAZR M to the top range 920, even though I'd choose the M over 920. WP8? No thanks, android on cell and W8 on laptop.
