MotoRAZR, 02 Feb 2012I am not defending the RAZR, my smartphone is Nokia N9.... ... morei'm not defending s2 and note as i said before i'm talking facts. samsung is on top of the mobile market today however motorola sold the company to google due to it's unsuccessful market share but i still think that the RAZR is a good success to motorola company it has a good design solid and beautiful smartphone but when it comes to raw computing skills it can't compete with other high end smartphones i own a samsung galaxy s2 and apple iphone 4s and i'm looking forward to buy sony xperia s. if you have a facebook account i would like to be your friend.

AnonD-38951, 01 Feb 2012i do know that screen res is important but what is the poin... moreWhat then is the purpose of your smartphone? Purely for gaming? Is that why you are so obsessed with this MALI GPU? Or obsessed with these S2 and Note? Damn, I would rather play games on my laptop!!! Battery life is more important to me, i dont care if Iphone 4S has the greatest GPU or S2 has the 2nd best gpu or RAZR is the least of them all, i use my smartphone to CALL, TEXT, SURF, and always Connect to my love ones.. Gaming is there but i prefer simple ones!!! Now brag your MALI GPU and tell me how long does your smartphone last? i bet after 4 hours your phone is dead.... Look at the battery test of DROID RAZR MAXX... its not a gaming phone yet they achieved in putting a better battery compared to s2 and note, not because for gaming (because you said SGX 540 is outdated), but because those who will use that phone will last for 61 hours calling, surfing, video playback, etc... and not for gaming man!!! RAZR is a business phone, its not what you think worth comparing!!! And dont bother to explore why would Motorola use qHD in an outdated gpu..they have their purpose and we do not know that.... S2 uses MALI because it has its purpose too... GOT IT? Damn!!!!

AnonD-38951, 01 Feb 2012i do know that screen res is important but what is the poin... moreAgain, my friend, or should i say "elite" android developer (ehem), why would you give a @#^& damn about GPU's? RAZR is a multimedia phone, not a PS3 or XBOX... Come to think of it... You are always bragging about MALI GPU or whatever SAMSUNG #&*!@... Each Manufacturers have their own preferences why they made that smartphone... SE built XPERIA PLAY for HARDCORE GAMERS, SAMSUNG made S2 for performance, RAZR was made for those always on the go businessman or those who love to connect always, NOKIA n9 was built for linux programmers, Nokia N8 was built for Camera Enthusiasts, and so on and so forth... I guess you are a promotions officer of SAMSUNG or EXYNOS CHIPSET hahahha, so funny... live and die with your GPU PRAISES, learn to appreciate the value of each smartphones, dont compare it to gaming or whatever... you are like comparing a corvette to a vios.... Oh well, my respect to you "elite" android developer!!!! Cuddle your GPU praises.... Get a life man

AnonD-40335, 01 Feb 2012Has anyone used this phone with T-Mobile? If so could you s... moreYes, used it with T-mobile deep inside a huge Teso's with metal roof all over. Still it managed to pull out a useable signal (in the range of -100 dBm)and at this speed it streamed *live* video and audio with no hiccups from a computer in Kentucky (US) and also *live TV* again with no hiccups, frozen picture, large bulks of data exceptionally well handled by the phone's radio module.
The phone has also got a dedicated HSDPA antenna which so far has pleased me quite a lot.

Niko, 01 Feb 2012Still don't get how important screen res is do you? Okay... morei do know that screen res is important but what is the point of adding a qhd screen on an outdated gpu such as sgx540 on the RAZR? i'm not trying to degrade the razr it's a good smartphone but the gpu of the RAZR is very weak try to compare modern combat 3 fallen nation on the razr to the one on the galaxy s2 despite the lower res screen of the galaxy s2 it delivers great graphics with great textures f.y.i mali 400 mp gpu on the galaxy s2 is the same on the galaxy note with 720p hd screen and it's the second most powerful gpu after the sgx543 mp2 on the iphone 4s and i'm not an alleged developer i'm an elite android developer.

AnonD-38951, 27 Jan 2012i'm android developer i know what i'm talking about. RAZR ... moreStill don't get how important screen res is do you?

Okay, take this as an example. My computer's GPU is so much better on my built-in screen compared to my TV, as it has higher fps. True or false? Power remains the same but TV i 1080p and built-in is 720p. Hence lower fps in fullHD.

The SII was never a great phone. It came with an outdated screen resolution, long after many others had launched higher resolution on their displays. Samsung cheaped out, and you still love it :p

Take games such as Asphalt 6 HD, Dungeon Hunter 2 HD, NOVA 2 HD, Spiderman: Total Mayhem HD, UNO HD, Aftermath XHD, Air Attack HD, FieldRunners HD, Grand Theft Auto III, Samurai II: Vengeance, ShadowGun, and Spirit XHD.

All great games that works brilliantly on the RAZR.

Also, if you transfer APK's from one phone to another, like in example old backups to anew phone, it won't necessarily be compatible, even though the app itself is compatible with the phone model. Get the newest version of the app from Market or developer.

Some game developers, such as gameloft, have their own stores with games for different phone models.

In addition, if killing tasks with your task manager improved performance in a game you were playing, it OBVIOUSLY has nothing at all to do with the GPU. Clearly, somehting has hogged too much RAM and/or CPU resources. Shouldn't you as an (alleged) developer know that?

WTF, Razr development edition! I thought they might unlock the bootloader on the original, but now I doubt it . I was planning to buy this phone in two weeks but now I won't even think about it. I know most people don't care about that sort of thing, but enjoy tinkering with my phone. WTF.

I don't own this phone but i plan on buying it in the next 2 weeks.I played with it for a little while in a showroom and i got to say i'm impressed. Not with the actual phone rather by android OS.About six years ago i owned a glofiish eten x500 pda ,good phone at that time.I can see smartphones evolved quite a lot since than.Unfortunatly i broke its display about 5 years ago and went for a samsung f480 also known as samsung tocco,a very simplistic phone but good looking and very well built. The problem is it doesnt have an OS, just running on flash. So you can imagine how i felt when using android on razr.I see most of you complain about the non removable battery, but i cant see where the problem is.I dont know how many of you leave their homes with a spare battery;seriously. And now you have a power plug almost everywhere:in your home, office, car, train, airplane etc.In the near future we will have powerplugs in the forest or wireless:).So instead of carrying a spare battery you can carry the charger that is very small.
Now about the phone i see from the comments that the gpu is outdated. So what.I'm buying a phone not an alienware. If i want gaming i take it on the laptop. And the most addictive games on handhelds are almost all the time the simplest ones. When i buy a phone i dont expect it to run BF3 with 100fps.The most important thing in a phone for me is calling quality and signal strength and then connectivity. And here razr is strong.Great microphone, great speaker(i didnt test it myself, only from reviews) and it has a wide range of connectivity:microusb, microhdmi, headphones socket etc.I see the hdmi a bonus that makes the difference between razr and other phones.
I don't see the camera a must have thing in a phone.I mean if i can afford a phone like this i can afford a camera too.No matter of how many megapixels a phone camera has it will never compare to a standalone photo or video device because of the sensor.Of course its nice to be able to take a picture whenever you want but the quality in my opinion is enough on razr(doesnt compare to other phones though).
Next is the build quality. In my case i change phone once every 5 years or so, so i need a quality built phone. Most samsung smarphone are plastic only so not an option for long term use.But the razr looks and feels strong built and long lasting.
The thing that worries me is the strange resolution. It's not as standard as other phones and i worry it will have issues with some programs. If someone can enlighten me will be much appreciated.
For battery life i think with 2g will perform well, with a moderate use of 3g only when needed.
But taking in consideration that quadcore phones are around the corner i'm hanging in balance whether to buy it or not.But i think if in the next 2 weeks there is no quadcore phone out or maybe some benchmarks to see how it performs i'm going to buy the razr.
Thank you for reading my post and i apologize if i offended anyone!

RAZR ... moreI agree adreno 220 is better but the fact that the SGX540 was in the original SGS I wouldn't be too happy, let alone going as far as calling it future proof because tegra 3 and the successor of the Mali-400 are around the corner and the Mali-400 is already better than the adreno 220. For gaming I would get the Xperia Play because although it doesn't have the best GPU the experience is better (my friend has one).
