E8 was meant to compete with your favorite brand's XM series....have you done any comparision yourself? If not, there are dozens of websites around which prove E8's music capability outperforms all of its competitors,
Then fanboys of certain almighty brand don't want to accept the fact, so they bring out the discussion of N81...costing 2~3 times more than E8, for comparision and says N81 wins everything.
You ain't comparing apples with apples, but apples with oranges...
Speaking of depreciation, yes, in terms of % Moto phones drop faster than some brands. Though when N81 costs 2~3 times more than an E8, the "actual $" being lost is also greater than E8.

Im a power user, i require a screen thats 2.4inch or larger, a full HTML Web browser with full FlashLite3.1 (Flash8 and 9 content support), +35mb of RAM to run 3-6 heavy apps at once for a full day, 3G to do YouTube, Music, App and mod Downloads, Wi-Fi to do Movie and large YouTube video downloads, large high capacity battery that can last a full 1.5days of heavy use, great high quality 3D games to keep me entertained when travelling long distances, and lots of video formats: avi, flv, FLAC, ogg etc. . . All this is possible on my N81, is it possible on a E8? Nah. And last i checked the Nseries were more expensive and kept their value far better than any Moto, so NO they arent cheap, thanx for being easy though. :-D

Motorola Zine series = Motorola Camera Phone / Motorola Kodak Phone (dedicate for camera experience)
Motorola Q series = Motorola Office Phone / Motorola Smartphone (dedicate for business experience)
Motorola Rokr E8 is Motorola Music Phone.

Anyways, MotoMAGX phones are not fully smartphones for they lack most business and extra functions real smartphones have. The Linux-Java platform is a medium-high tier phone OS which caters to non smartphones.

The N81 is not that expensive but it has kept its price well. As ive said Music wise the N81 and E8 can be compared. By the way N82 didnt copy anything its simply a N73 successor and is made to look like it, not K810.
The morphing keypad on E8 looks great but loses its novelty after a while and then your friends will see your E8 for what it truely is lol.
The E8 uses MagX and Linux right? So it can kind of be considered a smartphone.

Answer: Simply because not all people can afford a phone that is twice or thrice as expensive. Especially if you're somebody who isn't much of a techy person and won't be using Wi-Fi, 3G and all that stuff. This phone's price wont make you sell your other kidney (lol), the features and looks are refreshing and its a please to look at and very user-friendly.

heya there,. i have motorola e8,v8,and se k810i! e8 lovable than ever!v8 classy than ever!k810i is really good in picture editting unlike ,.... nokia models r cheap than ever,,!morely n82 copied the face of k810i, k810i so i love k810i because its originally classic unlike n82 nd most of all, n7o the cheapest nseries!!!!!!!! motorola e8 has all the unique features and not cheap like nokia and e8 got ces award for this year 2008 so stop compairing e8 to those cheap nokia models and etc.kinds of cellphones...e8 has also the shift mode that other cellphones don"t have ahaha, )what else to say about nokia?? the...super surely trying hard copying faces of motorola cellphones and other brands of cellphones?haha,the n76 copied the face of motorola razr v3 gen.1!hahaha,so too cheap!!

Every time my classmates take a look at the magical keypad, many are in awe and others are very envious that they want to literally crack the phone open to see what the hell is with the vibrating thing. Haptics is what made the E8 win in Popular Mechanics'recent report.

100 Moto, 18 Nov 2008I was really surprised to learn R2 was a great partner of D... moreI was saying at one point that I'll change to ZN5 from E8, sadly to admit that I have changed my mind. The reason is due to my usage of E8 thru time and getting to know it better, couple with my other friend's perception on E8 too. Each time I show it to a friend, he seems surprised with E8's morphing keypad, sound quality and the look, totally flat and black when inactive. Even one phone shop owner who sells all other brands except Motorola were surprised. That shows how ignorant people were on Motorola E8 but I really enjoy seeing their face's reactions.
I started using the FM radio since it's available and found it nice during breaks and I'm enjoying music more now after buying a pair of better quality Sony earphone. What else can I say, I'm happy with this phone so far and don't plan on parting with it yet. Really like the 10.6mm thickness too, easy on my pocket.

The camera quality may have increased, but I am not yet sure about it though. Also, newer firmwares allow the installation of custom skins like iPhone and Vista themes.

Did you proceed with the software upgrading for your E8? If I'm not wrong, I read that the E8 performs faster and even camera quality is improved - if I remember that right, there were some other improvements too.
Just wanted to find out more about this procedure's effect on E8. Thanks

Each phone has its own strengths and weaknesses, and I acknowledge these faults. People should see the bright side of the phones and you will appreciate them.
