wtf, 01 Dec 2024So the new thinkphone 2 has a much slower cpu than the orig... moreIt could be that they got chip vendor deal, guarantee for long term firmware updates for that chip and this will let easier updates for phone and saving costs on firmware, software. As updates are also part of cost, they have to cut somewhere. Anyway it is just a speculation..

Thinkphone 25 isn't gaming phone. It definitely has enough powerful cpu and feature set for its intended user base. And no, there's nothing wrong with Mediatek Dimensity cpu.

Powerful, long battery life, fast charging, good sound quality, nice display etc. Phone come with Android 14 and readily offered upgrade to Android 15. I personally love the fact it doesn't have legacy features, that are completely unnecessary for the intended users of this kind of phone.

I have decreased the requirements: about screen, if Manufacturers can provide LTPO OLED (I even do nor request RGB pixels) with DC-like dimming and do not burn within 3 years I can accept it; 3.5mm, I can use WF1000XM5 or buy a player with 4.4mm output to cover the usage of music playing; But I still cannot find any acceptable phones to buy. Now Motorola tells people that a "business phone" does not have dual physical sim (esim is not always available with different service providers in different countries) and storage expansion. They sells MediaTek SoC with high prices and some curve edge / fold toys as a gimmick (razr+ is good for fold lovers but curve edge screen has been proved that is only a trouble for touching), if people really need high performance hardwares without flashy features, there is no more choice like G100 which was released 3 years ago.

1) this is a business phone, why would you need more processing power which would only increase the price of the device,
2) starting price is around half of the starting price of the first model which was too expensive and they had to put down the price and make it available to everyone (not only for businesses) to get rid of the stock (you can still find them cheap which is a good deal for such phone).
