I bought the phone just because it's tri-band and I was travelling to the U.S. Now that I'm back, I won't be using it anymore. I find it's very hard to use because it doesn't have SMS ID capability and the backlight is very weak. The menus are very deep and even unlocking the keypad requires both hands. All of the other functions like voice dial, vibra, voicenotes, ringtones, etc. can't compensate for these shortcomings. I hope Motorola soon comes up with a software upgrade to this phone. It looks nice and business-like and the price is very affordable.

Well, i have one. Design isn't cool ofcourse, buti it's light phone + Li-ion battery. And mine P7389 got GPRS - can't understant why it's not mentioned among it's features. Anyway, it's not my firt phone - who says it's my last one. Now i'm looking for ericsson T29 or siemens S35.

        raghaven,
Are you still looking for the manual? If so, go to WWW.motorola.com
Find the link to Consumers and you can download the manual in a number of languages, for free.
On the other hand, I believe Motorola sells the manuals for $8.50 (US).
Once you download it, you need the Adobe Acrobat reader to read the manual.

The phone does not show the model number on it. It is virtually impossible to distinguish from similar models without looking through reams of technical info. Could have been better thought out.

                            STOP AND READ!!!
This is the worst phone i had in my life for this price! It's menus are weaker then the Alcatel OTE DB, even the 'old' 5110 is much better in menus! It has the same annoyng menus as a Motorola 3688 that I hat two years ago.
If you had other phones, as Siemens M35i, Nokia 3310, Ericsson T10, or some like, I swear to God, it's not worth it! Although it was new, I kept that phone for two weeks, and i traded it for a Nokia 3310+15$ (cool, huh?). Apart from the good batterry time (150h/2h) - real times, and the astonishing signal, it has nothing good in it! It is a shame for a trademark like Motorola! This phone shoud have been released on the market 3-4 years ago, not now. Or at least at this price.
                            Best regards.

Well in the mean time I discovered what was the problem: at the first charge motorola needed 10+ min to be charged before it was able to get on the network... but after that, good phone!

It's a very good phone, but I fell some head pain when I use it more time. I have read about it that it has high SAR rate.

I like the phone except for it needs a keypad cover, as one bump and its dialing someone I didnt want to dial. And lock feature is a pain to unlock cuz by the time you do, its flipped to voicemail. Also it never shows you who's call you missed, just that you missed one, so you cant call back My old Nokia did that, and it is the most valuable yet simple feature

Well, maybe it's just bad luck, but I bought one and 10 minutes after using it when I tried to set up the WAP it just blocked itself forever...
                                    Otherwise it's a good phone.

                                        I bought the P7389 because I needed a
WAP-, infrared- and wireless data modem-capable, tri-band (900/1800/1900) GSM phone for a reasonable price. I'm using the phone in the USA with a VoiceStream SIM card and EarthLink ISP services. I'm not totally happy with the WAP-browser (Phone.Com's UP.Browser 4.1) but on the whole for this price
for the services I needed P7389 is the best choice at the moment. It works as advertised.
Possibly the Ericsson R520m, T39, T68 will be better when available
but at a much more higher price.
