Somehow Moto seems to be always ahead of its competitors...in terms of data cable connection! Remember when did Moto release its V3/E680 which first supported "mini-USB" charging? How many years did it take other brands to "copy" this (seems rather simple but quite convenient) feature?

Though I'm surrprised to find many people on this forum don't seem to have the data cable to come with the phone. I'm in HK and I'd say all the mid-high end Moto phones (or should I say any phone with Bluetooth) all come with the data cable...and I've so many "mini-USB" ones right now.

For "micro-USB", I'd admit I can't find it anywhere else yet. (and will take years for others to catchup?) To be honest, I don't quite like this idea, as I already have plenty of "mini-USB".

Anyway, I've a Moto Q9h which is my only phone that needs "micro-USB", and one of my solution is: get one of the "new" Moto Bluetooth headset (my H375 cost me US$40 when I bought a K3 for my wife, and H710 for around US70), which comes with a "mini-USB -> micro USB" adapter.

"Heard" the adapter itself from Moto would cost US$15, so why not pay a bit more for a Bluetooth headset?

@TC16: Although the dimension of the screen is lower than usual (the V3i and V8 have 2.2"). The resolution is high (240x320) so the details on the screen are not squashed or cramped. If the screen was larger, probably the phone would be more expensive. The V8 has a larger screen and is very similar in terms of functionality to the U9, but is more expensive (about 50% more).

@Sk5I: Mine came with a Sudoku game. It does however, play all the java games, and also the games written for 240x320 displays (java games in full screen can fill the entire screen, there are no status bars in full screen mode).

The Sudoku game isn't very good. After spitting blood for a while, I managed to install my own version. The U9 doesn't allow the installation of games directly off the memory card. They either have to be downloaded from the internet, or installed via a USB cable (that is expensive and impossible to find, unless the phone comes with one, which mine did not) and special software on the PC.

However, the phone has a fast processor and can handle some very demanding tasks. The games can play very smoothly.

This phone is great... I got it for a week and I oni charged it 1 time, tt is on the very 1st day I recieved it... And the cool thing is, I listened to mp3 for more that 3hrs a day and I kept playing with the games... The in-phone games are cool...
the speaker is loud... The external screen is cool... I can even reply sms without fliping open the phone... It's so small and sleek tt I can even place it in my coin pouch... Really no complains as a 2.5G phone... Luv it...
The bad side of it will be, it do not accept wma files, no fm, no 3G, no wlan and the worst of all is that I got no GPRS support in my country.
PS: U9 is NOT available in Singapore. I'm in Singapore...

                    Firmware R6632_G_81.12.15R is pretty good:
                    - Can disable the photo shutter sound.
                    - Can disable all clicking sounds ( keys ).
                    - Can get Ur owa//exchange emails (not pushed though)
                    - Good battery usage
Not a lot of bad things to say actually ..

@A2DP: Actually it can't. You're thinking of miniUSB. Do a search for microUSB and you will find only a handful of retailers selling it for a lot of money.

@4LK2: I currently have a 512MB card in my U9 and on paper it says that it can support a 4GB card. It takes microSD cards just like the rest of the phones (except SonyEricsson phones) that have a card slot.

I was wondering how big of a memory card can the U9 support. To the people who are currently users of this phone, how big of a memory card do you currently have in your U9 and do you notice it slowing down the phone at all? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

USB-Micro USB cable can be found anywhere. Many digital cameras and other modern portable devices use this system.

@thessa: Also a nice phone (on paper), personally I think it looks ugly. Also, look at K850i (better on paper than the W850i). Though battery life really depends on your usage. On paper the Sony Ericsson phones have only a slight longer battery life. However, if you prefer Motorola, you might want to look into the Motorola Z6, it has a longer battery life than the U9.

@thessa: Longer than the V3i. It really depends on your usage, but it will certainly last two days between charges. Longer if you don't talk a lot.

USB data cable (micro USB, not mini USB) could just be the hardest thing to come by. What possessed Motorola to put a micro USB on the phone I don't know, the technology has only been around for 1 year. Anyone know where I can get a cable?
