Hey guys,
I got a V185 (i think that is a improved version of v180) and all that i have to say is that it worth the money.
But unfortunately im having problems with the USB connection. I have found some posts about this problem, but nothing about a definitive solution. I will try to explain whats happening to me, step by step since i got the phone:
1) Bought the phone
2) Bought the USB -> MINI_USB cable on local store
3) Did a fresh install of WinXP SP2 on my PC, and DO NOT installed MPT or any usb mobile phone device. So, its really fresh.
4) Plug the phone on the USB port. Windows detects a new USB device, called "Motorola V185" and asked for drivers. I just canceled the driver installation.
5) Unplug the phone and plug it again. Now, windows detects a "unknown device" and do not ask for drivers. A message pop up saying that the device is malfunctioned.
6) If i try to connect to another USB port, it works only for the 1st time, and after i only got "unknown device" and malfunctioned bla bla bla....
Looking for this behaviour, im very sure that there is a problem with WINDOWS. Its like it record some "histoty" of USB devices connected, so after the 1st time that the device is connected, the system is not FRESH anymore.
I know that a lot of people have this problem, but i cant find a solution!
PS: note that Mobile Phone Tools is NOT INSTALLED, so im only talking about connecting the phone on the USB port and windows recognizing it propely!!

I happen to like this phone. Ive had it more than three months and nothing is wrong with my screen or my internet and I can work all the settings on my phone. personally I think a lto of it is operator error and not taking care of your phone like you should.

This would be a great phone if it were not made of cheese. The exterior LCD cracked within 2 weeks of getting the phone. T-Mobile insisted that it was physical damage (no kidding!) and sent me to Moto. Enough said.

I bought a v180 about a month ago, then this past saturday my screen was half scrambled, so i decided to turn it off and turn it back on to see if that would help it. It didnt, i now have a cell phone wit a non working screen. I can recieve calls and make calls from it but i have no way of seeing the number i dial. The external caller id works so i can see whos calling tho...T-mobile wont replace the phone even though its obviously a manufactures defect. In my oppinon dont by the phone, at least spend the extra money and buy a v300.

I have the motorola v180. Phone sucks. I purchased two in october 04, one for my sis and one for me, her phone went out in two months. Her screen was blank, and she could not hear the other party during her calls. Just got a replacement, now it is my phone that has gone out. Screen goes blank or looks scrambled.

I just ordered the V180. I'm an adult and am employed, so I'm not interested in downloading games and don't like the goofy ringtones that most phones have.
Does anyone know if you can download ringtones that are acceptable for a workplace setting? Like just a buzzer noise or even a ringing noise like landline phones have or had.
