You can unlock the full potencial of mobile linux with ve66,too. The rsa for this model already broken so u can flash modded roms. Native linux stuff including emulators, divx player and etc. works with no flaws.

It doesn't matter it runs Linux, only thing you can run on this model is Java. No possibilities for anything fancy like running Nintendo emulators and similar Linux native stuff. Ofcourse it is possible but blocked by Motorola and known hacks that work on other Linux based Motorolas don't work on VE66.

How can I TURN OFF the GPRS/EDGE, it is on stand by all the time and my battery is running low very fast.
The other problem is that the phone loose signal very often for about 2 min. can that be fixed any way ??

Yes it's true... it's a bit slow in maneuver, but at this price it is a great deal, wi-fi ,wingjets ,great tst,very fast scroll (handy), camera it's more Vga then 5.0 Mpx :) but is a phone not a camera device. !!
Have to understand ,this is a Linux based platform, an brave exercise from Motorola ,u can add many apps like Opera mini, GMaps ,etc .
It's a open platform, a free one, try it before u buy it..may like a lot

ah I am using this phone for about 3 months now and I have to say I am very dissatisfied. Reason they put the 500 mhz CPU is only because anything less would not run terrible code of this phone. Yes it's based on Linux but is very slow. Overall I'm disappointed. I should have bought iPod Touch for that money and keep my old phone.

It is ok. I like that the menu is simple not like is specific for MOT to be complicated. I don-t like this touch pad that is toooooo sensitive.
But I LIKE THE PHONE....FOR IT PRICE....

BUY IT!!!!! this phone has one of the best quality/price report.
-it is a smartphone (linux operating system) with a 500 mhz procesor, higher than nokia n95,n96,n73....
-32 gb card or more
-wifi
-an acceptable camera with 30 fps video
-2.2", 240X320 screen
-rich package with many accesories
-music ( loud and clear)
-many applications available

Forgot to write about the menu & software. Really annoying that jog doesn't work in some lists- sub menus and no matter the 500MHz processor typing is a little bit slow... but the worst remains the same: camera is a big disgrace for Motorola!!!

prattay, 04 Jan 2010i just got d set.i have wifi in my room for laptop.i can c... morePros:Nice look, clever lock top panel with side button, liked the radio function w/o the hands free (but better receive with the earphones /because cable works like an antenna). Clear sound on music & communication Small menu-easy to learn, Wi-Fi is good, bluetooth circuit is fast & good comm with BT headset. Cons:CAMERA REALLY SUCKS!!! I've never seen a worst image sensor than this! 5.0 MP? Maybe in your wildest dreams!!! Either you focus with the 2 stage shoot button or not, no image clarity at all. Worst than a medium 2MP sensor.Too much noise produced from sensor/shutter that gives you the feeling that pics were taken with an older 1.3MP sensor. Keyboard feeling/quality medium but ok.Jog and left-right buttons on top panel of phone too close and easy to make a false move. If you want a phone for quality sound,mp3 player with radio (RDS) and WiFi connectivity and don't care for camera it's ok to buy it.

This phone has a really unique design with the Motorola signature ... It also comes with a wide variety of features ( Wi-Fi , 5mp Camera , mp3 , radio with rds , fast scroll and up to 32gb memory support ... ) Plus is newer then the Sony Ericsson ...

I don't know whether it is its software that uses bad compression for JPG or hardware limitation but quality of pictures that are taken with that camera is only barely *tolerable* for sunny outdoor usage.

This works both from Opera Mini and builtin browser. btw if you download any media file it will stream (you will be able to listen to music or watch video *while* it's still downloading)

I got this phone today and I have to say I am a bit deceived. This phone is great an all, radio, music, cool design, fast, wifi...etc... but the camera is HORRIBLE. It's worse than a 0.3 mp camera. To get my point check this review, the reviewer uploaded some pictures taken with the phone http://mobilearsenal.com/review/motorola_ve66_the_charge_of_the_light_brigade/print/whole.html
And the photos actually look worse...
So yeah, don't get mislead by the "5.0 MP" because in this case it only stands by the size of the image, the quality is SHIT.
All the other features of this phone are great.
