i just bought mine tonight at sm megamall, w230 and w231 is basically the same fone. poolgreg, you must first format your new memory card using the fone. if you have done it, u can upload your songs to the music folder,

Thank you Jotacouves. Still thinking if I'm going to buy the Sandisk or a different brand because Sandisk is way more expensive than the likes.

Yes, it supports 2 Gb cards. Motorola prefers Sandisk, but any kind works

Question, does the W231 supports a 2GB Sandisk microSD? It's really confusing, phone specification says only microSD (TransFlash), up to 1 GB supported. How come? Anino mentioned he used an Apacer 2GB. Can it really support a 2GB Sandisk microSD?
Hope someone could answer my question...

For those who are having a hard time uploading MP3 into their microSD cards, here are the steps how it's done:
                    1. Buy a microSD card. Moto advises using Sandisk , but mine is an Apacer 2 GB.
                    2. Use a card reader to connect your microSd to your computer. I used a USB cable and it just wouldn't work. The USB port must be strong enough to handle your cards. So I recommend a PC desktop.
                    3. Once your PC reads your card, save pics ( maximum of 75 to 80 KB, and music like what you do in your memory stick.

Don't use USB cable!!! No need to download the Moto USB driver.

The price is higher than W230 which is better in spec. For me, W230 is in and if ever the replacement cover are available, so much the better.. The W230 can handle the 2Gb memory with so much ease. Mine is almost full and up to now, I never experienced any hanging whatsoever...

I got this last night for 50 dollars and so far, I've been liking it. Comparing it to Nokia's high-end phone is pathetic. The keypad is small, but comfy enough to text unless you stand 6 feet and higher (long fingers then). The built and style are way way better than other brands' low end phones! Thank you Moto for incorporating Crystal Talk. It is very good at making calls. SMS maximum character numbers is 750.

I hate the keypad. I easilly get tired of texting while using this phone. This phone is good for those people who only needs a decent mp3 player and for call and text.

i think this is a good phone.
Straight to the point . no frills no thrill and no need pay extra money phone.

I think if u are comparing this to phones like e71(nokia), roker E8, SE walkman phone etc or Iphone, i think u dun look at things in it perspective.

this is a low tier phone. meant to reach out to those 1) dun have the cash for an $$ phone, 2) for elders who dun give a damn to how many program u can download into the phone, 3) ppl like NS man(me) who wanna store 1 or 2 gb of song into it and phone with FM radio to help past time. looks reasonable and cheap enuff.4) the rural folks in many country.5)a man who jus need a phone .

its small enough to put in any pocket. its tough enough. for a few knocks.
reception is good. the speaker is good enough the MP3 player are good.

one complain though, why the hell is it using a 2.5mm jack (some one says its 3.5)
took me some time to ransack my things to find a earphone
