Maybe, if Java developers will also create their software that will be compatible with Linux devices, then no one will complain about Linux being unfriendly about installing Java software. Most Java applications only run on famous OS's like Symbian and Windows Mobile.

Usb charging for me isn´t very important... and if the lens of Zn5 is carl zeiss like nokia n82, we call it equal camera´s... :)
Still prefer nokia n82.... but i love the keypad of this phone!

jjsoviet, 20 Oct 2008People who think that Symbian phones are superior over any ... moreWell different people have different needs. Some people buy phones because they are "phones", some people buy phone so that they can perform all other other functions EXCEPT the basic phone functions.
Some people like to install thousands of software into a phone, so the phone may take "minutes" (instead of seconds) to be turned on, hang 10 times a day, take "minutes" to save a photo, etc...
You know what I mean?

100 Moto, 20 Oct 2008Not sure about Symbian on other brands, though Symbian on M... morePeople who think that Symbian phones are superior over any other OS phones are really ignorant. Having that "famous" Symbian doesn't guarantee that it will perform well against other contenders. COme on, Nokia only got this far because it bears the Symbian brand name!!!! Linux can compete with Symbian and can even defeat it in some cases.

Wally, 20 Oct 2008This is the best phone of Motorola... I want more phones of... moreFrom what I heard, Zn5 actually has Carl Zeiss "lens", only due to special agreement between the almighty brand and Carl Zeiss, Moto can't officially advertise Zn5 has the Carl Zeiss lens.
Kodak assists mostly on the "software".
Zn5 also offers "Crystal Talk" which cancels most background noise...which makes what a phone should be.
And I'm not sure if N82 supports USB "charging"...

blah, 20 Oct 2008hey 100 moto,
do u own the Z10 as well? how is it, conside... moreGiven the failure of Z8, which I bought one for about US$290, Moto will not likely introduce Z10 in HK.
Some of the problems I faced with my Z8 were:
1)Cannot customize navigation keys / shortcuts like other Moto phones.
2)Wallpaper get chopped both top and bottom, unlike other Moto phones.
3)Phone is supposed to support 8GB (and up?) external memory, in reality it only supports up to 4GB
4)Getting into most menu / functions requires going thru "layers" of other submenu...
5)Though not as often as other users, I had experienced automatic re-boot probably 3 times since I got the phone in June.
6)Sending (especially Chinese) SMS is a nightmare because the "select" and "send" buttons are so closed together, where I often sent without completing the message.
My comment regarding Z8 is...is a good and stylish phone for making in and out going calls, most other things may even be worse than Z3!
So thanks to Moto and the shop which put the phone "on sale" at US$290, I had a "great experience" with Z8 so I wouldn't even dream...hence perhaps spending more $, of owning a Z10.
Back to my Zn5, I'm still quite happy about it!

This is the best phone of Motorola... I want more phones of Motorola like this...Interesting design, awesome keypad, nice camera(not good in video recording), fast processor, passable display...
In comparison with Nokia N82(whick it seems to be the direct rival):
Advantages of Nokia N82 over Motorola Zn5:
Nokia n82 has:
- Better display (TFT, 16M colors over 256k of Zn5).
- Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.
- It's a 3g phone and has HSDPA(Zn5 isn't 3g).
- Better camera (5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics over the 5 MP, 2560х1920 pixels of Kodak optics).
- Better video recording (VGA 30fps over 15 fps of Zn5).
- Built-in GPS receiver and A-GPS function (Zn5 lacks this).
- Office document viewer
Now, advantages of Motorola Zn5 over Nokia N82:
Motorola Zn5 has:
- Touch-sensitive keypad (which is more confortable than normal keypad of N82).
- More internal memory (350 MB internal memory).
- And a faster processor (Freescale 500 MHz CPU).
After this comparison i still prefer Nokia N82, but Motorola Zn5 is and very interesting phone... Very good Motorola in this phone... Keep it up!

500 MHZ, 19 Oct 2008this phone is a LINUX phone. so SAD...
very very not fr... moreNot sure about Symbian on other brands, though Symbian on Moto is just a nightmare for those who ever owned Z8/A1000 etc...
I'm using both Symbian based Z8 and Linux based E6. I can turn on my Z8 first, then my E6. By the time I can make a call on the E6, the Z8 is still "almost ready" to search network.
So I don't know how fast Symbian can be...or can I customize my homescreens as easily as Linux.
Also all the Linux phones I've owned so far have NEVER rebooted itself...unlike the Symbian ones.
In the end, I love my Zn5...being NOT on Symbian!
