Stuart, 11 Sep 2008It's good to see that you like the 3G video calls feature a... moreWell, I guess I'm very fortunate to live in the city with possibly the lowest monthly mobile service fees...Hong Kong.

The tiny little city, after some mergers, has 4 different service providers, 3 of which offer 3G service.

One of the "cheapest" plan cost USD$12.5 with 1400 basic mins, 50 v-call mins, 100mb GPRS and unlimited Wi-Fi.

Additional v-call mins cost around USD$0.20. per min.

So I would say "relatively speaking" 3G in HK isn't really that expensive.

And for comparision, the same company's 2G plan starts from USD$7.45 for 550 basic mins.

So I pay for my mom's 3G service, and certainly wish I can send a 3G phone to my dad...in heaven!

mamoun, 11 Sep 2008yeah i understand specially husbands... yeah it is expensi... moreI know what you meant on the husband's issue. I'm also a husband to my wife for 23 years so I must say my wife & me have gone thru quite a bit in life so "understanding" is the key word here.

3G video call can be used for many reasons so if you decides to utilize this network for reasons you find useful, then go for it. It's an individual's evaluation base on cost vs. worthiness so I would say there's no right or wrong here. I've actually recommended my previous company (a rather big multinational company) to utilize 3G video call for their technical dept as they were facing escalating costs in interstate travelling just to trouble shoot a technical problem faced by their authorised dealer in other states unfortunately they are not willing due to 3G's cost, imagine that. For a company, 3G's considered a small fraction of their expenses but for an individual, if you can afford it and find it useful, go for it.

I believe every services, networks or things happened for a reason.

Did you know that this "late" 5MP cameraphone is currently the "best", beating even the N82 and k850? Please post complaints with actual PROOF next time.

I truly applaud you for the reason you've been using 3G video calls because you wanted to be connected with your family members, this is a very commendable reason but unfortunately quite rare nowadays in our society. In your case I believe you'll use it on permanent basis, for others, I'm not so sure. For me, it'll be no no for sure unless the 3G subscription becomes more reasonable otherwise not worth it. Nevertheless, it's all individual's decision here.

In my country, we have 3G network but unfortunately I've actually not seen people using it for video call purpose, could be the cost factor.(I'm sure there are some people using it) I'm on 3G network too but I'm connected on a 3G USB modem to my notebook with webcam for internet access solely for work and the subscription is worth it. Thanks for sharing & have a good day.

Stuart, 10 Sep 2008video calling via mobile phone is utilizing 3G network. If ... moreBeing someone who has owned over 40 Moto handsets with a new Moto handset every month so far this year (also for family), I am probably one of the bset supporter of Moto around.

However, I certainly value the 3G video calling capabilities of Moto phones, afterall, Moto is the 1st maker to offer 3G phone in HK which also supports GSM1900 for "worldwide" use.

Back to v-call, I use it quite often. Not that I work on a field (rather mostly in office), rather I value my family so much I always want to see them.

When my dad was around, I v-called him everyday, even though I saw him in person everyday. Same went to my gf...who is my wife right now.

Last month I was in Taiwan visiting my grandma, and I v-called my mom so they can see each other.

That's my definition of "connecting people".

So not only I'll get a Zn5, I'll also get the 3G version of it, whenever it comes out.

BTW, the best v-call should be the 3D version...first seen on Stars Wars the Empire Strikes Back...over 28 years ago! (and don't the Americans have the vision of the future?)

mamoun, 10 Sep 2008how is that. how about the video calling is it useless too?video calling via mobile phone is utilizing 3G network. If you're a field person that requires sending videos or "on air" happenings at your site from where you are located to your office all the time, then 3G is recommended. Or else, I wouldn't do so. I have to stress that the above are my personal opinion as there are other circumstances people need 3G for that I'm not aware of.

Alot of people don't really want others to know where they actually are when contacted.
