New Oppo Reno appears on TENAA with 32 MP selfie shooter

Oppo Reno was globally announced two weeks ago in Zurich, Switzerland. We were there and had some hands-on experience with the phone that comes with a full-screen display and a shark-fin elevating selfie camera. Now, a new variant of the device pops up on the Chinese regulatory TENAA with a bigger selfie camera and slightly bigger footprint.

The phone with codenames PCDM10 and PCDT10 has an octa-core CPU, maxed out at 2.2 GHz. This could be the same chip as in the Oppo Reno - Snapdragon 710 - but we would love to see the even newer Snapdragon 730, sporting a similar core setup. RAM + storage are 6+128 GB, while the main dual camera remains 48 MP + 5 MP, while the selfie shooter is upgraded to 32 MP.

There is also difference in the battery and the size, although the screen remains 6.4” OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution, meaning slightly thicker bezels should be expected. The new power cell is listed as 3,950 mAh, which is over 10% improvement from the regular Reno but isn’t enough to compete with the Reno 10x zoom and the Reno 5G variant.

Whether this is called Oppo Reno Plus or something else, we are yet to determine. Nevertheless, the new addition to the Reno portfolio is a message that Oppo clearly is relying on the new series to make an impact on the smartphone market, following the cancellation of the R lineup.
