New ZTE Axon 30 live photo reveals improved UD camera

Yordan, 13 July 2021

ZTE is expected to bring the Axon 30 this month, and the phone will have an under-display camera, just like the predecessor Axon 20. Ni Fei, President of Mobile Devices at the company already promised a next-gen solution of the technology, and today we saw a leaked live photo, revealing the final product.

The issue with the Axon 20, the first commercial smartphone with an under-display front-facing camera, was the OLED matrix did not allow enough light to go through and Visionox had to compromise with the viewing experience.

We expect ZTE will reveal what exactly was improved at the launch, but our assumptions are there is a combination of OLED improvements and UI fixes.

What we do know is the screen will support a 120 Hz refresh rate and will have 400ppi above the camera - that’s twice what ZTE offered in the Axon 20.

The phone has been certified with 55W fast charging, and while we don’t know much more, it will likely run on a borderline flagship chipset such as the Snapdragon 870 or Dimensity 1200.
