It's not Apple that's hurting Samsung. It's other Android makers Xiaomi, Coolpad, Oppo, OnePlus, Micromax, Karbonn, etc. which have began offering flagship Android phones. It's easy to move from one Android to another, than from Android to iOS. Apple also keeps its users because they are used to the ecosystem already. But when you're in the Android ecosystem, you can switch from brand to brand.

The risk of any brand in the Android arena is that the ecosystem is shared with countless others. For Samsung, it is the rise of the once lowly brands that is hurting sales. Xiaomi, Coolpad, Oppo, OnePlus, Micromax, Karbonn, etc. now offer flagship features at mid-range prices. And it's easy to move to another Android brand. Whereas, an iPhone or iPad user will not as easily switch to a new ecosystem.

Is this the company you want to compare wth the giant APPLE?..Samsung is weak, they thought releasing their note 4 phablet to compete with i6 plus was gonna help?..one thing about Apple is that they Dnt compete n copy other companies like Samsung does..samsung released Galaxy alpha in August, it was just a copy of an i5(wth nano sim,no sim slot n metal body )stil it ddnt help..SAMSUNG U BETTER START MAKING DECISIONS BASED ON THE MARKET NOT based on ur RIVALS' SUCCESS..Apple is stil the most wealthiest brand in the universe n u just on #7..pull up ur socks although you not even "half" of apple's wealth,1day u may get there

Samsung has been long enough in the limelight. I used to be an S3 owner. After updating my phone it was rubbish. I'm now a happy Z2 owner. Sony should be at the top. Not this plastic phone maker.

samesung, 31 Oct 2014Samsung is going like Nokia :)) Wow..Calm Down.. Nokia went down and Sold out to MS because of a trojan virus(Stephen Elop) sent to Nokia by MS.. to sabotage the company and gain access. Nokia's networth came down, so that MS could buy at a cheaper price and succeeded with it.

Still, virtually, all the phone manufacturers including samsung and apple has agreements signed with Nokia to get Nokia's patented technologies. Their hardware is still the best in market. Why do you think MS bought Nokia??? :D

Unlike Nokia, Samsung is going down because of its arrogance, poor after service, unfair quality and prices towards certain countries. So, Don't compare Nokia with Samsung.

I don't understand why all these haters are happy for? A profit is still a profit. Some are talking about death of a company, others are happy, others compare samsung's profit with apple's profit...wow!
Grow up kids, nobody died yet and won't die very soon. Samsung still has something to say on the mobile market. Didn't bent yet...hehehe

Anonym, 31 Oct 2014Or maybe I just realize the argument goes both ways and no ... moreNo, probably no one outside of Samsung knows the cost of those parts. The original comment that I replied to said that Samsung was a better company because they essentially took a smaller margin than Apple on their high end phones based solely on the BOM. How can you or anyone else make that assertion without knowing the true cost of the BOM? We can't know the true cost without knowing things like their transfer costs.

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2014What are you talking about? Maybe you're confused and thin... moreOr maybe I just realize the argument goes both ways and no matter how we dance around the matter the fact remains the value for those parts (for anyone looking to buy them at the OEM channel) is still higher than those of the competitor phone.

I don't think it has anything to do with updates. Its the touchwiz and outdated design of Samsung smartphones. Touchwiz is perhaps the heaviest android interface. Even their flagships stutter and run slower than the competition. On the other side, every company pays attention to phone looks, but Samsung doesn't. Time to pay Samsung... Sorry you have yourself opted for the path previously adopted by Blackberry and Nokia

Finally people understand quality more than marketing.. Everyone I know who has been a samsung user once tells me, I'll never buy a samsung again.. See you can fool some people all the time, some people for sometime, but you can't fool everyone all the time..!! I use HTC, and seriously after using such a phone, I don't think I can ever choose a touchwiz device again.. I have used s4, note 2, xperia z, oppo find 7.. But nothing comes close to the perfection of HTC..

It was only a matter of time. Not only does Samsung launch the best versions *only* for the Korean market but now that Google has taken over Motorola, the competition has become much harder. Samsung will have to really push for better phones for the same prices as making smaller changes to existing phones will not be enough.
