AnonD-315011, 01 Nov 2014So can you bring me an android phone which run smootly with... moreBlah blah blah! Just get an Android with > 1GB of ram!! If those phones are too expensive for you, get the crippled Windows Phone! Problem solved! Even if I have the cash, I still won't get the overpriced iPhone too! But I will rather get a 3GB Note 4 with so much more flexibility than the 512MB capable Windows Phone which cannot even download stuffs when the apps are not in the foreground!

            Everything Lags.
I have the Galaxy S5 and the iPhine 5 and the iPhone lags like and old man with a stuttering problem. Guaranteed those that complain about Samaung lag have 10s of apps active in the background, everything set to sync every few minutes and probably fail to close anything correctly and just exit via home button..
I'm typing this on the iPhone 5 and it is painful as the default keyboard lags behind for seconds eventually catching up. Not to mention the deliberate slowed scrolling in the browsers which allows "smooth" rendering and loading visuals.

Referring to it as "Lag" Is a teenagers verbiage. Please conduct some more research (google) before you make an uneducated statement on the internet.

                  Anonymous, 01 Nov 2014Except ios does have lag and is not better made. It's just ... moreSo can you bring me an android phone which run smootly with 512mb not in games but at least when i turn on wifi,which produce heavy apps running in background;
And iphone; I'm not iphone user maybe you're right about those lags; but i've never seen slowdown after days on 5s and no game lags; and no lags when you turn on wifi not as much as android
Just i said is android phones with less than 1gb of ram have lags and i've seen it in every single samsung or htc or sony phones; when you install some chat apps and apps wich needs internet they automaticly run after turning on the wifi and you can only fix the lag with greenify but after that you need to wait for opening apps; and after some they of use the system starting eating your ram; man these are true and you can't deny these; if so; so you use your phone only for calling and listen to music

Still going to lag on S5 and Note 4. Touchwiz is stupid, gimmicky and loaded with junk people will play with just once and it slows the best specced phone down. At least my phone runs stock Android so it doesn't stutter or lag. And it's Lollipop roll out is imminent.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2014So in translation you have no clue what you are sayingActually I'm afraid that Anomymous is right.

Android Lolipop looks terrible and is a battery-esting disaster for amoled-equipped smartphones. It looks like the more smart people are leaving Google (or the smart original Android people), the worse Android gets.

We have continuously less and less features. Gone is the ability to record calls (without hacks, root or tampering), gone is installing apps where-ever you want (phone, storage, Sd-card), gone are the gorgeous dark looks that save battery in favour of oldfashioned, childish hippie looks riddled with nauseating effects (which people co-incidentally disable as soon as possible anyway, DOH!)

All companies make the exact same fugly crap. iOS looked gorgeous, with well crafted detailed icons. Android looks gorgeously futuristic with it's dark space age tones. Hell, at end even Symbian looked gorgeous. But ever since Microsoft ditched Windows Mobile and turned into an fugly pre-teen colourblock mode, the others followed suit each uglier then the other.

If this is progress then PLEASE GIMME BACK Pocket PC and an iPAQ 36xx-series PDA.

AnonD-315011, 01 Nov 2014but also look at Iphone spec, 1gb ram vs. 2gb of ram in alp... moreExcept ios does have lag and is not better made. It's just completely restricted with a major lack in features to squeeze a little more performance out.
Plus since the 5 and especially the 5s you can't compare clock speeds the same.
The 5 had an a15 like set up and the 5s/6 have a57 cores.

                            And 4s definitely had issues.

Plus android does not require lots of ram. It benefits from it. Especially in multi tasking.
Kitkat was made to run on less than 512mb of ram. Where as ios 7 and 8 became more resource hungry in unjustified ways.
And that lower ram amount is part of what plays into their massive lead in app crashes.

You should really have a better understanding of things before trying to debate them

Everything seems a step in the right direction imo. If they some how manage to change the outdated gingerbread icons they are going to have a really solid gui..

Akira, 01 Nov 2014Nonsense. The Galaxy Alpha beats the iPhone 6 in sheer rea... morebut also look at Iphone spec, 1gb ram vs. 2gb of ram in alpha, dual core 1.4ghz vs. octa core 1.8ghz + 1.3 ghz... when we can compare 2 devices that they have same spec. could you say that new galaxy a3 beats the iphone, or motorola moto G as it has pure AOSP and also planed to upgrade to L??? if I see 'YES' answer to these challenges then i will admit that Android itself without any support of huge monster hardwares beat other linux base OS.
I'm not apple fan, but also an android fan and I worked hard on my old S+ phone to make performance better with CM11 project (kitkat base) and tweak kernel, but hardware is so low,
iphone 4s never had those lags that i've seen in my phone with a simple temple run game!!!
OR S4 and iphone 5s in other games...
Android still has lots of things to do, but I personally admit that Lollipop is much much more smooth than Kitkat and much much more battery friendly, and with x64 well I hope it would be great for heavy Use and Heavy programs and Games.

No... moreIf by "just hardware" you mean vast improvements like ART, Material Design, Project Volt, Project Butter, Project Svelte (amongst many others) then yeah... "just hardware".

The thing you failed to realize is that in Android (unlike iOS, WP or BB) the vast majority of *system* features are deployed though addon apps (that integrate into Android like a native system feature -- because that is how Android is designed to be, extensible and modular, so that fragmentation doesn't hinder the user). Thus, all of Google's ecosystem upgrades amongst many other novelties introduced into Android by 3rd parties appear to also have slipped under your radar.

I'm not even going to talk about the software+hardware projects that have been evolved by Android, such as Android Wear, Google Fit and Chromecast.

Yes, some older phones and the S5 were much less optimized for speed and smoothness. But the latest Touchwiz has improved a lot (see the Alpha and Note 4). And that will just get better with Lollipop and when (as with older phones) you turn off apps (works for practically all Samsung apps) and features you never use (animations included).
