I bought a SONY Xperia Z3 shortly, was using a Note 2 for 2 years before that. I have to say, the Samsung was much more user friendly, better camera/pics(only 8mp) and many other things. I am a bit disappointed about the SONY. I am thinking to go back to Samsung again next year.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2014AMOLED is the worst. It has much more disadvantages. For ex... moreI beg to differ, an AMOLED is superior, viewing angles, great contrast, colour gamut, extra sensitive touch layer over the screen made by samsung, less power hungry, lighter, less reflective, better in sunlight. Need I go on? this is versus any other non AMOLED screen, if you can see where an LCD is better in this regard then please let me know, the only one i'm going to give you is screen burn in, but who has that as a problem? Lets not forget HTC and it's yellow tint, or 1+1 and their yellow tint!

You really should research before making claims like that.

Living with an S5 I know only to well that the clarity of screen I use is the best there is, and I'm a massive HTC fan too, but the screens don't compare unfortunately.

hmm, I'm not sure why does developer need to put a crazy high pixel density ... Can you guys tell the difference between 300ppi density screen and 400ppi screen by just looking at the screen directly? Compared to a device with the same processor, isn't the lower ppi device have less pixel to rend hence quicker perofrmance it gets?

I hope they keep the screen 5" or slightly less. Keep the larger screen for the phablets. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find a high end android smartphone which is not more than 5”. Galaxy Alpha….small battery, no MicroSD card slot…

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2014AMOLED is the worst. It has much more disadvantages. For ex... moreThe life expectancy is really the only main disadvantage and really not even a bid deal on these phone screens. It will still literally last year's.
My Omnia HD from 2009 which was the first to have a large Amoled screen still has a perfect display. And it has seen some glory days of of use.

Plus the technology is only moving forward. Life span is increasing and will continue to do so.
Burn in is not very common.

                        Try thinking without such bias

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2014QHD screen resolution is pointless on a phone. It's just a ... moreExcept the note 4's 5.7inch QHD Amoled is up to 40% more power efficient than even most 5 inch 1080p lcds.
And it was also already deemed world's best mobile display.
Sunlight visibility, power consumption, whites, blacks, contrast, accurate colors, saturated colors, uniformity, lower dimness for dark rooms.
                            It's a chart topper.

And the device performs well on what will be last gens SoC at that point. So yes for about a year some qhd phones won't be the most graphically advanced, but still more than hold their own.

The only true part is that for lcd is a bigger power draw at the moment. Not for much longer.

AMOLED is worse than IPS. So it should have IPS display.

back in January 2014, Samsung applied some interesting design patent to USPTO.
it was a design of phones with curved screen and no bezel.
people thought it was the design concept of Samsung Galaxy S5 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4 back then.
but it turned out it wasn't the case.

and now, November 2014, we heard about "Project Zero" from Samsung.
a project that promises us a suppossedly fresh and new design of future Samsung smartphones, designed from the scratch.

so i guess the January 2014 design patent was part of Project Zero.
i can't wait to see the outcome of Project Zero.
