my concept of htc m9 is that it should have a 810 qualcomm snapdragon processor with 3gb ram and a front facing camera with ultrapixel and a 5.5 inch quad hd display andinternal 32 gb and expandable upto 128 gb

QHD is becoming the minimum spec for flagship phones and this become more evident in 2015.
I have compared QHD to 1080 side by side and you can see the difference and it is how you interact with the phone so needs to be on the bleeding edge of innovation.
64 bit Snapdragon 805 or 810 with 3GB ram will tackle most challenges so I am not really worried about this speculated spec.
A battery of at least 3000mAH will keep most happy with the better chip to save power.
I have stopped my upgrade last month in anticipation of this phone as there is nothing out there that will pack a punch in terms of spec like this in the UK.
I would be surprised if HTC put a 1080 screen in as most speculation points to the fact that the flagship standard being QHD in 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

I hope the M9 incorporates more miniaturization in it's design, don't make it bigger and pack more 'stuff' in !
I liked the M7 design, and the 4.7" Screen; barely fits in enough pockets and bigger I do not need, not even higher resolution Screen, all my Videos are 1080P.
An 8 to 12 MP UltraPixel (4 µm or bigger Pixels) rear (main) Camera with TWO of the 'old' 4MP rear Cameras from the M7, one as the front Camera and the other as 'secondary rear Camera' (to make the 3D depth info), would really fix any complaints about the Cameras in the HTC Lineup.
I have yet to find the M7's Photos "too small" but I can appreciate that many others want a higher resolution instead of the limit imposed by the first Gen. UltraPixels Chips.
If they are putting the 810 in it (and we _know_ they will) it would be great if the 'Video App' could get all those Cores running (with Hardware h264/5) and we could do 4K (at up to 96, or more FPS) on the beast.
If we could record SbS 3D at 4K that would be great too.
They could make a super-premium version with faster Processor and OLED Screen for those that will pay over U$800 and make another version that looks identical with lower Spec'd Parts in the same Case.
I'd be VERY HAPPY to pay an extra U$200 for a crazy good Camera and Processor with all out whack Features. I can understand that a lower priced version may be wanted by others so they need to make a duplicate with stripped down Features.
That would probably be a selling point rather than a detriment as people would have to actually check out your Phone to actually know if it was "the expensive one" (of course it is).
I was so happy with the M7 I did not buy the M8, it would be great for someone deciding to switch to (or back to) HTC but the M8 did not seem enough of an Upgrade for me to part with my M7.
I hope HTC really takes it up several notches with a super-high-end Model, along with a lower priced, similar looking on the outside, Phone with the upcoming M9, otherwise I will be skipping this Model too. :(

If you want a bigger phone go get a Tab...Phone is a phone, should be something you can conveniently hold in one hand. I think this is quite a good size.

mas39, 02 Dec 2014Just can't believe how many people are obsessed with 5"... moreSome people want to use their phones without having to use both hands and hand sizes aren't the same for everybody. I personally like bigger screens than 5", 5.5"-5.7" is probably the optimal for me as I find them more comfortable for typing messages or browsing, but they still fit in my pockets.

Just can't believe how many people are obsessed with 5" displays, it's all old now, displays are getting bigger, chips are getting more powerful and hence batteries are having to get more powerful. Even the s800 chip is wasted on a small device, certainly from next year the s810 will definitely not come any smaller than a 5.5" screen, it's going to be nearly 90% more powerful than the s800. 5" devices will be more for the mid to entry level devices from 2015 onwards, it's all changing and you're all going to have to get used to it.

soundmatters, 01 Dec 2014No one cares about the high end handset and the dual stereo... moreI do, but they'll have to do more than that. Small or/and nor-removable battery is still unacceptable, unless the price is really low, which won't be the case with this phone

Like it but I fear everything is staying too big. reduce bezel so you can still keep a good screen but overall size reduced. win win. If not bring out a mini but with more ram and sd card.
good on you HTC

QHD as in 2560x1440 in a 5.5" screen? Making the same dumb mistake as LG's G3 and Motorola's Droid Turbo. Anything much beyond 400ppi is a waste of battery and a waste of CPU/GPU power. It doesn't get any visibly sharper beyond 400ppi.
My LG G2 5.2" 1920x1080 is overdoing it a little at 424ppi, you can't see the pixels even with a pretty strong magnifying glass. QHD at 5.5" is well over 500ppi, a big dumb waste.

Anonymous, 01 Dec 2014Fingerprint scanner is the biggest gimmick going!! No one u... moreFingerprint scanner is the most significant feature to come to phones in years.
At least for those of us who want to keep our phones private, but hate punching codes every few minutes.
And for those of us who like the convenience of paying for things with our phones.
I wonder if you have ever held a phone with a good fingerprint scanner, like the iPhone? It changes the way you use it.
