[deleted post]I own both the Note 3 (selling this weekend) and Note 4. The difference in sharpness between 1080p and 1440p on a 5.7" phone is so minimal it isn't worth it.

Its good if they stay at 5 inch but with the size of M8 it could just as well have been 5.3, that thing is long as a stick, stereo speakers or not, its too long for most pockets and a definite deal breaker.
Also i dont see whats so good about 1080p on 5 inch, jagged lines are screamingly easy to see and small fonts have imperfections, sure its good but not perfect, if theres enough GPU power to push QHD then i say go for it.

I do hope other smartphone makers follow, I would like to emphasize that QHD for devices less than 6.5 inches is nothing more than a waste of processing power.

Note 4 owner here (and loving it). Its good to see common sense prevailing with someone sticking to a 1080p screen on a sub 6" device.

1080p is getting outdated nowadays 1440p should be the standard of high end phones.

so it is not a top range device. it could express to public htc is out of the top range maker club.
720/ 540 screen also look very nice to many peoples eye
enthusiasts always want more excitement, advancement.

Thank god it's 5 inches. Any bigger and it's impossible to use with one hand.
The one m8 had a good thing going.. Just reduce bezels and with the new upgraded camera
This could be the perfect phone.

Respect for HTC to be different. The decision to keep the M8's 5-inch screen with 1080p is enough reason for me to buy it next year(or the Note 4). Please bring back the M7's onscreen button to give functions for the bezels. Ultrapixel front camera seems like a good a good idea for our world's ever-growing selfie obsession, while the 20,7MP main snapper sounds like HTC is going to use Sony's sensor for next year. But still... do you guys think the before-mentioned HTC M9 means that HTC is going to launch a prime version of their flagship(think Galaxy S line and Note, or Moto X and Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx)? Well there's no harm in it, and sure HTC diehards will buy it, but it's kinda like a major risk for a relatively small company, so I think IF even they make it, it'd have limited availibility and cost heavens. Anyway HTC's has had a great year and let's hope it continues- bankruptcy is not the fate that the first Android smartphone maker deserves

Good move for keep FHD screen
Hope they minimize the bezel.
WTF with M8, big HTC logo and useless black border around it.
They should back to M7 design.
Get rid on screen button and use the black border for capacitive button

If this is true then I have full confidence in HTC for at least 2 more years. They're being smart, using what makes reasonable sense. Hopefully battery life goes up again.

Htc Hima would be my next phone. I am still in love with my M7 but mine ONE has the problem in updating software. I am still on sense 5 & android 4.3 lol but it still rocks. No lag...nice speakers... Great battery.

For those who are satisfied with 1080p resolution, try VR or google cartoon. These require higher resolution for better viewing experience.

I just wish some of this rumours are not authentic, because this has been disappointed factor within Samsung flagship Lots of octas. htc don't switch to the way of Samsung rather iPhone. This new htc will disappoint many by lagging and freezing because that's what Samsung phones are good at lagging lagging because of so much cores and octas. nonetheless, htc for life no matter
