Better optimization....my ass. Simply iOS is light because is handicapped.
Apple's SoC, even made by Samsung can not even boot Note4. As the (fast)motor-bike's engine can not move any SUV with 5 ppl inside.

I think you better start with the basics and report back in a few months, clearly you are new to this business and have no idea even about the basic terminology.

Even the last SoC that Samsung made for apple was on Samsung's own Exinos process.
14nm means less used power for smartphones. And Samsung manage it FIRST for mass production.
That's why the packing firm(apple) choose them, bowing . Not to have one more obsolete component on the next iPhone.

About Note 2, i had one myself for 5-6 months maybe, it was THE hottest thing to buy back in late 2012 but the Exynos chipset was its main disadvantage, new apps and games that were more advanced than Flappy Bird would never run on the Note 2 before after a few revisions, they always had to rewrite apps and games to work on those Exynos back then. Nowadays its less of a problem since Android developer tools better handle Exynos compatiility but it wasnt always so, when the first Galaxy S came out in 2010 there was alrerady a considerable selection of Android apps available but insanely many didnt work on Galaxy S which was the first Exynos phone, the compatibility issues were really severe, if Galaxy S hadnt sold so well it would have been nearly impossible to use one, it was only its popularity that made devs take the trouble to rewrite apps for Galaxy S compatibility.
And by the way, Exynos are more or less ARM reference designs, and those always been inferior to Qualcomm designs, just read about what Linus Torvalds had to say about the matter. Most of the kernel code in your android phone was coded by Torvalds, this guy know what he is talking about, the whole Android runtime rests upon his creations.

Its a process node and its not made by samsung, these things are implemented in close cooperation with suppliers of lithography tech, like Nikon. Even Intel who has the FAR better process than Samsung are not doing it alone.
And its not only about size, AMD at 130nm used to outcompete Intels Netburst processors at 90nm, but intel Pentium M's at 90nm outcompeted anything else, INCLUDING 65nm Netburst. But it wasnt untill 45nm that Intel demonstarted that size is not everything, Intels 45nm High-k/metalgate was more than a year old when AMD, Samsung, TSMC and so on followed with their own 45nm but Intels 45nm was totally superior. The nm is like Mhz, it doesnt mean anything unless everything else is equal, and here it isnt.
