03 August, 2009

It looks like most people commenting here are fanboys... complaining over the shape, lens etc.. I think the phone looks good, features are great and it will probably beat all the other cameraphones with its 3x optical zoom and CCD lens. AND its price is also low compared to other phones, you can say its half the price of others (300 Euro). So fanboys stop complaining about it just because your fanboys. Instead you should appreciate that its setting a new standard so the other companies can also improve their phones and in the end you people will benefit from it.

Guys are crazy, they took a digital camera and added ''phone function'' to it.
They even forgot to remove the ''lense'' LOL

I don't know about you westerns, but here in Asia (except Japan), a phone to us is simply just a phone. Oh yeah the telcos offered 3G & HSPA packages and stuff, but that's simply for luxury and showing off to your friends. In fact, only a small percentage of subscribers fully utilise the data package since it's too darn expensive. And when cameraphone first came into the scene, customers was attracted by the camera feature which has cultured a trend where they use the camera feature more than the other techie features, until now.

              Phone(voice/text) > Music/Camera > Web > Others, that's how it is.

Is it me or is that camera interface strikingly similar to the Samsung Omnia i900 camera interface? Come on Taiwanese guys... this is a joke.

Further on CMOS vs CCD - the articles on the web are older, 2005 and before - recent use by the SLR manufacturers of CMOS in their devices kinda helps to prove the point.

Ultimately though, its not the CMOS/CCD argument that holds any weight - its the lens thats one of the biggest parts of the equation. And putting way too many pixels in a small space will always result in compromises.

For everyones info, CMOS is the option of choice in higher end SLRs.

As Canon, Pentax, Nikon, Sony and Olympus are choosing CMOS due to lower noise, power consumption, faster responses, it kinda goes to show that CMOS is starting to beat CCD.

So some here would prefer to have a CCD based compact over a 12+mp Nikon/Canon/Sony just down to the sensor?

...so the conclusion is this taiwanese phone company just change the 12mp digital camera into 12mp handphone... if you don't believe please buy it... you will notice that basic specifification for a phone are none

ive seen a samsung phone that also got that 3x zoom optical lens from a korean drama 3-4 yrs ago. dunno how bout the pixel resolution though. it seems that they keep the best phones only for them.

the bigger the imaging sensor the better...and if its CCD then the competition can retire....CCD is superior to CMOS in quality but draines battery even more..im not saying its perfect, both sensor tipes have ups and downs but id rather take a CCD equiped phone than a CMOS one..
3200 iso suggests that the sensor is sensitive for a phone but the lens doesent have a very decent aperture...3.0 is thew minimum and while its good for many occasions lower is better in this case..
2.4 would have been an excellent minimal value but i guess this is good enough..
