It should have been discontinued much earlier. Who will buy this steeply priced device with mediocre specs when other devices are available for much less with better specs

Galaxy Alpha is a nice phone.
the only problem is its lack of microSD card slot (and maybe its high MSRP).
and now they're going to replace it with a phone that has non-removable battery?

Samsung never plus!But you have to admit samsung is profiting greatly from the market Sony created, low end phones with high end chipsets, Sony never made a cent out of it but with Alpha Samsung is harvesting easy profits. This seem to be samsungs strength, going into established markets and wiping away the existing competition in a flash.

Allegedly it has something to do with sony, whom can see from their Lund plant in sweden that the mountains on the Norwegian border has not turned blue, but still has suddenly changed to 10,000 kelvin white all of a sudden, so this xmas we are having a blue xmas. Seems like this year the snow is not what it used to be but all caught in the imagination of a Slovenian child.

Yeah pocketable phones are so stupid. All we need is more phones which would cause us to throw all our pants away... Oh wait I forgot , we're all 6' 3" and we're all guys, *that's* what explains why everybody should 5.5+ inch phones.

Coming here telling me that snow is BLUE!? wtf man, i mean wtf child, its bluish only at night and i think its because of the shorter wavelength which means higher photon energy. In daylight when the sun goes above the horizon snow is WHITE, its as far from Xperia Z3 as it gets. Deal with it, in real life white is 3500 kelvin, not 10,000 like in the dreaded Galaxy S from 2010 or the Z3 from 2014, Sony has moved too far away from reality, Xperia Z was good, Z3 is not. Blue snowy mountains in daytime, with magenta reds? Laughable. I had so many Xperia in the SE times but no more, the best in android, SE, has moved into the clown business.
Why dont you call the singers of the old xmas songs and tell them to change their lyrics into IM DREAMING OF A BLUE CHRISTMAS. White you and sony dont like, so whats stopping you?
Never thought i see the day when amoled had white and xperia had blue but here it is. And i hate it.

I see 0 alpha here . xiaomi and z3c everywhere .Huh! now i know ur lying, i live in asia now and i KNOW Xiaomi, half of them are factory defects and the rest are outside of warranty but hoping for replacement. Mi3 been available here for a long time, much longer than in India, thats why noone buy them anymore.

AnonD-4340, 29 Dec 2014I dont know why my last comment is awaiting moderation, all... moreMaybe our danish genius can chime in here on why why snow is blue at night or during the dark times in lappland, but given denmark is so far from the polar circle maybe he dont know by experience, after all the polar circle is 760 kilometers north of trondheim (the viking capital) so it must be like nearly 2000 kilometers from copenhagen. Just guessing, as a pilot i know that Copenhagen should be around 1.75 hours from Trondheim in a turboprop (bombardier or similar), and i think the polar circle is at least equally far from trondheim). So the distance may vary. im not gonna bet my A on these distances, though i know you wish i had.
Distances in norway is hard due to all the fjords and montains, only a local experienced pilot can tell, and since VFR pilots fly by landmarks.. Well, theres no IFR answer publicly available, Norway can be flown at short distances with risks of death, or at safe long distances.

I dont know why my last comment is awaiting moderation, all i said is the the snow in the mountains as seen from Sonys engineering plant in Lund Sweden isnt blue, like Xperia Z3 is trying to make us believe. It only appears blue at night because blue has shorter wavelength and thereby higher photon energy. I hunted foxes at winter nights and know that snow appear blue in my insanely expensive Swarowski rifle scope (which is far better than Carl Zeiss) at night for just that reason, in the arctic everything turn blue winter night but NOT in daytime like Sony tries to make you believe. The Sony sample photos of snowy mountains in daytime, the same photo included in Z3, is totally off, no reality at all.
I have experienced all turned bluish but only in lappland, north of the polar circle,where the sun is gone for months every winter, but blue snow in daylight, wtf??? We dont have daylight in lappland during winter, the sun is below the horizon.

I tested Z3c but the units in the Xperia stores were in demo mode with password protected settings, so i could only see the terrible cold whitebalance displays that sony exoect ppl to like (which they dont). so, i went to a nearby store and asked the prettiest sales lady (girl) if i could test an unlocked Z3c, and i told her that i bought my last high end phone in that store and she confirmed that she already worked there that time, so i said Oh so you remember me maybe, im not pretending, im really buying when i see something i like, so let me test a Z3c without limitations because i really need to see that the display int as bad as it looks. But she replied Sorry, we dont keep a stock of Z3c because noone is buying it, why dont you try the Galaxy Alpha instead, its the very popular phone in that class now, if you like Xperia we only have the big Z3 now as demo unit. Then i said i already saw it, didnt you notice i been here a long time, and i dont like the display cold colors, its so fake. She replied that yes, Z3 has a so daylight bluish color, thats why they recommend the note 4 instead.
i told her i dont like Samsung but she could not help me still, keeping a stock of Z3 Compact just wasnt possible, none was interested. Go for Alpha she said.

I am using Galaxy Alpha. I play Little Empire all the time, never disable lte, all the time I use SHealth and my battery last 1 and half day. For me - enough. It is the most beautifull Samsung phone and on Antutu I scored 48857. FOr me it is the best Samsung phone.

I dont like Samsung phones, had high end galaxy models, but i have to give samsung credits for going into a niche market Sony created and then actually selling well, unlike Sony.
i believe Alpha was conceived when Samsung saw Z1c, they said "we can do this so much better,and look the low specs, we can push a midranger with a high end chipset and sell it for high end price, and unlike Sony we can push our own worthless high end chipset to get maximum profit". As said as done, Samsung is harvesting big money now on Sonys failure. Alpha isnt going anywhere, trust me, its a money machine.
