Guess, 12 Jan 2015 waste of resources,,,, to compete in a 3% share platfor... moreIt is simple sense that the share will not remain at 3% and can grow. It would be more sensible to invest on a growing platform rather than a saturated one that is soon favoring Chinese OEMs and has already killed so many good ones: Sony, HTC, Motorola, LG etc.

Guess, 12 Jan 2015 waste of resources,,,, to compete in a 3% share platfor... morewhy would blackberry still compete with it's 1% market share? does blackberry also wasting resource?
I think not, neither does MS wasting resource. I believe in MS strategy to increase it's market share, increase quantity the low-end/cheap device.

AnonD-1825, 11 Jan 2015samsung knows that with android its a dead end, you cant do... moreAndroid is a dead end for the likes of Samsung, but Microsoft is even deader. Smartphones have become a commodity and only the likes of Apple with their niche markets can turn a profit anymore.

It's the era of China phones (low costs, even lower margins): I bought one for 150 bucks yesterday which is faster than any flagship out there in everything but games. It's made from a little known brand, but its 1080p screen and build quality are out of this world.

The Era of cheap quality is upon us and the Era of big margins is behind us. Let's now see who can invent the next big thing and make billions because smartphones ain't it...

samsung knows that with android its a dead end, you cant do much money with android anymore the competition is way too big inside android, so they go for windows phone where they have lot better change to gain sales, but its very likely dead end too.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2015Android will be dead soon. So wise decision from Samsung.I would ask if you knew that despite all the bold talk by ifans, that Apple LOST marketshare in 2014 to 12 percent and Android gained about 4 percent marketshare to 84 percent, globally. I realize that you and your ilk think the USA is the center of the universe, but protectionist presidents aside, the USA only has 4.4 percent of the worlds population and each year is becoming less and less relevant in the big picture. I would ask if you knew it, but history has proved to me that iSheep are in a world of their own.
