As for custom UI lagging, its usually a coding and memory problem. Has anyone not not notice all new HTC devices come not with the standard 256 RAM but 288 RAM? It seems HTC at least made the smart move of anticipating memory problems when doing heavy skinning. Something Samsung could do well to learn with their Omnia II which runs what looks like a very inefficient Touch Wiz code. The same applies to Xperia. Its not the hardware. Its the panels interface hogging up memory and the writers not doing enough to optimize the code.

The really funny thing about the industry is how at one time everyone was criticizing Windows Mobile for its reliance on skins to improve the UI. Apparently if you skin the UI its an indication of bad design not withstanding the reason why Microsoft didn't really focus on UI is the target market and insistence on letting users do the changes. Fast forward... S60 Touch is being skinned. Android skinned.. Now suddenly the ability to 'tweak' UI is a BIG thing...

By the way, Microsoft and HTC has no connection at all or nothing whatsoever to do with these Cooked Roms. Last i heard they were trying to stop them from being created by private people amd have shut down several sites thru lawsuits, claiming they give Windows bad publicity. Most of all i kinda surprised at GSM arena lack of knowledge judging from teh way the wrote the "news".

These are not official OS, it's made by private people on different Windows Mobile forums, it's called a Cooked Roms and are usually not larger then 90-130 MB, where as the Official Window Roms are between 240-270 MB. There are new Cooked Roms released almost everyday at forums by people with the basic tools for people that might wanna change their homescreen for any Windows Phone Model to look more like the 3D flow of HTC. Why GSM arena is reporting Cooked Roms is mystery, get your act together GSM arena, these are not even really leagal and are sub-par version om original OS.

Anonymous, 19 Aug 2009If u was comming from iPhone blieve me , u would see it.Well, I have a friend in the office with Iphone 3G and it's faster but no such a big difference. And also Iphone becomes slower with time when messages, contacts, emails and programs grow in number, it clearly sees a difference in speed.

I'm coming fro... moreYou know what the problem was? I was judging from the first video and not the second. In the second video, where the announcer describes everything new in TFlow Manilla, it seems alot faster. Almost to the point where I really want to know the specs.
I never got into HTC so the first video for me was like "meh", but seeing the second video changed my mind.

At WHAT minute in the video it seems slow ?
I'm coming from Symbian 3rd (N95 8GB, N80, E50) and I don't see much difference in speed between them.

Yep seems slow and smells lag from miles away.
If HTC gets that 1Ghz processor may make things better ,
but then they need massive energy. Still it's not the TouchLfo
that needs improvement but Windows DO.

wayne, 19 Aug 2009i got rid of my xperia, that was buggy/slow due to windows ... moreIt is not Windows Mobile that is slow, it's the Xperia architecture has got so meting wrong with it. The whole phone is so lagging that I do not think it is usable when testing the demo set. A lower-end and older Windows Mobile runs faster than Xperia anytime. SE blow on its first WM phone. Maybe it does not have enough experience with WM
