Give credit where credit is due. I am a Preston owner and even I am impressed with the affordability and the specs of the Star (suggested one to a friend).

if they had put a proper flash on it. they would have sold double that million. just shows even a crap camera on a phone can still sell well.

Hi all,
I definitely can recommend this phone, its features make the retail price (which is already dropping here in Belgium)an absolute bargain. But a word to the wize: wherever you buy it, make sure it isn't a first generation installed phone, the earlier models have some software issues.
Also, I regret to say Samsung may have pushed the enveloppe on this one when they released it: at release time, there was no SamsungMobile on-site support for data configuration, and to the best of my knowledge even today the phone is not fully compatible with Samsung's New PC Studio...
Don't worry though, when they're through fixing all this it'll still be a great phone for great value.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2009hi mr. sales representative,i had bought a samsung star fro... moreWell man I must inform you that in the mobile store i work people bring their "Stars" because we are partners with Samsung here in my country,we are not the service centre indeed,we only collect them and believe me people come every day with this type of handset sayin it is faulty...anyway enjoy your experience with this phones if you say you don't have any problems with it! Samsung for me is one of cellphone manufacturer thats make quality handset,even there are still some things that make it imperfect but i still can say that they learning all the time from their customer,so can we give respect to them?

I have S5230 for about 2 months. I would like iPhone instead or even better Omnia HD but i can not afford them. Touchscreen is a game changer and when i went for a new phone i had to choose from Cooke and S5230/Star/Toco Lite/Player One. I hate LG cause they have far worst software so i bought S5230 and have not regretted for a second. It is also one of most elegant phones on market. When You compare it with Nokia 5530 You forget that most of phone buyers are not aware is a phone which they want to buy a smartphone. They just want nice, cheap phone to satisfy their needs and S5230 is just that

thank gsmarena for talking about sold of another phones makers...sometimes i think people only think that the only one that sell millions are the Apple iphone LOL...its always about the iphone, ...LG sold millions with ther touchphones...Samsung as you can see sold millions too with touch screen phones!! etc etc

so what samsung star is copy of lg cookie?it is better than original,better battery life,smile detection etc.and it is cheap.i hope there will be more cheap and better copy cell phones in the future
