Xiaomi is manufactured at Foxconn, where samsung and apple smartphones are also manufactured. Apart from the plastic on the outside, no phone manufactures is manufacturing nothing these days.
Xiaomi uses Sony's own imaging components which Sony only use for its flagship models.
So does it matter what is the label on the outside?
Anyway Sony isn't even confident of their own smartphone business, they are more than ready to sell it. Then what is the use of even the label

Sony has to sell mid-range phones, like E4, to latinos in the US. The latin community is big in the US, and they don't buy flagship, like Z4. If E4 is going to widespread among latinos, Sony can make $$$ in the US

Mediatek chipset? If it's that MT6582 chipset, It's unacceptable considering that Sony is a top tier company. Snapdragon 410 would've been better for a mid-entry level smartphone.
