When there's a will, there's a way. The hacker community for the iPhone is huge, there is no such thing as a permanent "fix" for hackers. If not through the modem exploit, then there will be another way.

Hunter, 10 Sep 2009I work for o2 and the tarrifs are not a rip off as your get... morewell i work for all the networks technically and the Iphone tariffs with the combined cost of the handset and monthly cost are WAY above the other networks costs, working on it from a corporate level is different you can see the margins the networks set and o2 are greeeeedy

I'm a Nokia person and I must say that this isn't a bad update for Apple. It's by no means, groundbreaking, but it is a decent update. I much prefer an N97 or N900 over an iPhone anyday but that's my opinion. I just wish that gsmarena would do a full review like this for the update that the N97 and Omnia HD just got (with the little side comments included). I know they did a review on it but they put them together instead of individual full reviews like this one, and to be honest, those updates are better than this yet they had less to say about them.
I'm not bashing iPhone in any way, I just don't like the gsmarena bias toward iPhone and how they try to push the iPhone to make more people buy it instead of doing a full review on all the phones and letting people decide for themselves which to buy.

Whoever stated that those who own a iPhone and hate it probaly don't know how to use it is full of nonesense. It's to simple to use and to be honest the most easiest phone to use out there. It's a decent phone but lacks and so many areas it's unreal. But far as mms is concern you can't blame apple for that at least here in the states. That's AT&T problem. But I'm okay with it for now but awaiting the n900 by nokia and resititive or not I'm still getting it because it offers more

Kirt - I can understand someone saying that they prefer the iPhone, but to say its at least 5 years ahead ahead of its closest competitor is totally unreal.

I personally like Symbian for ease of use and overall features. Multi tasking, easy tethering, GPS (that can work in the background while other processes are going on). And a physical keyboard. And a camera thats not 3 year old tech.

The operating system updates may well give full multi tasking to the iPhone in time, but for the moment there is no real "wow" factor for me with the iPhone range.

And before anyone flames - I have an iPod Touch, which I do like, but its shown me that the device could never be my primary, its just too "restricting" in its operation.

A real basic update with almost nothing worth noting being added, I was looking for flash support on the safari browser but it still lacks it. And u still can't use the hard drive on the phone as a pen drive- this really really sucks and I even asked for this before the update but doesn't seem like this will ever be added to the device. Besides this I am very satisfied with my iPhone 3GS 32GB, it's at least 5 years ahead of it's closest competitor, just needs a little more key features to make it perfect.

I'm not an Apple fan, but even I'm willing to admit the iPhone has some of the best features out there. Still not a smart-phone though, before you Apply fanboys start dissing Pre's, Omnia and HTCs.

It's the not the iPhone I have issues with. It's evil draconian Apple. Why on earth are they stopping jailbreaking in the first place? Release an app for it, but let people know that it voids their warranty.

i like the touch screen ability on the Iphone however i do think its overpriced in uk by O2 for what it actaully is.

in regards to this update is it really worth it for people who have jailbroken it??

Apple already have the the money off the ppl who own an Iphone so this just feels like a step to far ... if someone wants to improve the usability by jailbreaking it who cares?? youve already had there money stop being greedy...

                                  just my 2 pence

Keep up with the update Apple. But so long as apps are paid, many like me will go the android route. Way to go google

Hmmm... With the intelligence shown by those initial comments, I'm rather glad you guys don't own iPhones, you wouldn't know what to do with them. As for the updates pretty cool, never been interested in jailbreaking, however it does now mean Apple will have full control.
