4.3-inch Snapdragon-driven HTC Leo to be called HTC Pro Three?

14 September, 2009
It seems that HTC have been keeping themselves busy with the 1GHz Snapdragon platform and some leaked shots have just revealed the HTC Leo (or should we say HTC Pro Three), which runs on...

wm4life, 15 Sep 2009android is a big piece of garbage. who wants to use a java ... moreWM4LIFE..you are completely wrong about Andriod. Android is not based on JAVA at all. It is based on open standard linux. As you know Linux kicks MS OS to the curb when it comes to the speed and the stability.
Android is a infant OS. Google unlike Apple didn't had an OS to begin with. iPhone borrows a lot from MacOS. Google never had an Operating system. So what u get in android is pretty basic working functionality. A lot of manufacturer have adopted to put on their own UI on top of the OS. That makes it slow. I am sure with Donut 2.0 releasing in December would address a lot of functionality out of the box. But that still won't stop the manufacturer putting thier own UI on top of it; the same way they are doing to WM devices.
As far as apps are concerned..It's a pretty nice thing to give alternatives to all it's customers. Some of the free apps are pretty good for a lot of people. Some apps with games with 99c or 2$ are cool and fun to play on iPhone. I believe in free market and let the user choose if they are satisfied with cheap or free apps or if they are ready to pay premium on apps that they cannot live without.

Whats next? 12-inch netbook with phone functions?
Wait, there are such already except they don't have a microphone. Or do they? If they have a webcam, might also have a mic, take a model with 3G modem and you can use it as a HUGE phone!
And it will be cheaper than HTC's monsters - $500 versus $1000+.
But it won't fit in a pocket. Not that you will always carry around 4.3" screened device in a pocket, that is.

android is a big piece of garbage. who wants to use a java based operating system. java is slow and limited no matter what anyone says. The biggest epic failure is not using the gpu to hardware accelerate the UI considering the os was started from scratch. Have you seen the applications in the android market? So many crash and are worthless. Same thing with the iphone. I cant count more than 15 apps that are useful. Most of the apps are just a money grab. Everyone wants to get some quick cash. The number of apps doesnt matter. That why microsoft is not allowing crappy 99 cent apps and making devs pay 99 dollars for each app, to weed out all the trash. We dont need a circus in the windows mobile marketplace like other platforms. We stay classy with classy and useful apps. No junk please.

iphone latest 3gs use samsung S5PC100 which has A6-cortex 600mhz...and also has powervr 530SGX,,comparable to omap 3-4 which handle HD res easily

samsung humingbird has the same clock with snapdrgon but practically hummingbird has better performance

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2009iPhone is using custom design SoC based on powerful Cortex-... more1st of all,

the CPU that the Apple has in the iPhone is made by Samsung

                                    2nd of all,

Of course the snapdragon 1GHZ is better, that's a monster man is capable of higher resolution than HD resolution. you must dropped on your head to even compare this with Samsung's cortex 8

for all you whiners wanting an android or any other OS, This is a windows mobile phone and there is a large community who actually uses these real "smart" phones which does true multi tasking. These phones support USB host functions, do FM radio, does not restrict you from customising your OS (yes, even android limits you for some extent. Google wont let you have google tag on customised phones). for christ sake please stop whining and try out the OS first before making any comment.

if the screen is big for you then look for omnia i8000 if that too is big for you then go for touch diamond variants. If you want to compare iphone with these phones, you are welcome but first get real flash working on your phones and multitask. if you still think your phone is fast then my apologies.

we want options not a market limited by some crazy lunatics. windows mobile exists in many different markets ranging from medical to logistics to what not and it existed since you were kids. HTC is dedicatedly making these devices and i bet HTC is making 90% profits from win-mo devices and im pretty sure that they know what they are doing. so if you dont see an android device, go complain to google and stop whining here. this phone is what it is.jees

Snapdragon is using Qualcomm custom designed "Scorpion" architecture (Qualcomm isn't licensor of ARM' Cortex-A8, or A9)

It's reasonable to presume that "Scorpion" is upgrade of ARM11 architecture, and it's reline on compatibility with it 'cos of the software base.

On the other hand it's questionable can full potential of Snapdragon be achived under those circumstances!

On the other hand iPhone OS 3.0 is tailored for Cortex-A8, just like Maemo 5 (N900 is based on TI's OMPA 3-series based on Cortex-A8)

So, saying that 1 GHz Snapdragon is better SoC than Apple's 600 MHz Cortex-A8 is reflection of complete ignorance ;)
