When HTC first decided to make the "One" series of phones, the whole point was to reduce the number of models they release by making only "One" phone. Of course HTC couldn't help themselves and ended up releasing pretty much the same amount of new phones. However, they get around this by calling the different phones "variations" of their main phones. That way they are technically not flooding the market with lots of different phones.

M8 with 1080p / SD 615 sounds good, but as usual they are going to mess it up with a small battery, that ISN'T removable either.

parion, 02 Mar 2015i really don't like where HTC is heading :(I agree 99%...as one who always stand up for HTC from ppl who see their demise as near...I guestion the move to simply release the M8 with minor changes as the M9. Yes there are specs improvements and a perceived better camera..but looking at the phone all I see is the M8.
After seeing some of the renders I was pumped n dreaming of finally getting a flagship from them. Yet again it seems they looked for a way to screw it up for many who were greatly anticipating the arrival of the One M9.
Now my Question is...will HTC remedy the situation by releasing the rumored One M9 plus/Ace with the rumored beefed up specs (an all glass face with redesigned BoomSound speakers, 5.2"-5.5" screen either 1080p or 2K, same 20.7MP rear can and 13MP front can, QSD810, 32GB/64GB into storage plus 128GB SDCard expansion, 3 or 4GB RAM, 3500+mAh battery and all the good stuff)????? I mean NO LOGO BAR with minimal bezels. Can we see such a device from HTC soon...like by the end of Q2??? Can HTC at least signal that something like that will come? Probably hard to do now since they have the One M9 to sell.

What they're simply doing is saturating the low-to-midrange markets like India and other parts of Asia with derivatives to boost profits. Little do they know that this tactics will simply backfire and alienate those who bought their high end phones because it's the same phone with similar costs, and will eventually alienate those who purchase these low/midrange phones because there's almost no difference in cost vs. the higher end model.
At least Samsung differentiate between their A, J, S and Note series. HTC has been using the same M7 design for all of their low/mid/flagship devices while maintaining similar price throughout.

This is not a good move. People who will buy this phone thinking they are getting a an improvement over the previous year's flagship will be duped. At least they should name it differently from the iphone naming (which people generally are familiar with) to suggest a lesser spec CPU.

Cant fight stupidity and ignorance, the best way to make money is to give peole what they think they want, noone want what they need. Its like the boys who happily spend $2000 for styling and useless accessories for their car but they scream like little girls if they hav to spend $50 for new brakepads.
