My iphone is only good for three things.
Multiple language support, fast and smooth
UI, and ok web browsing. It's inferior to
other phones in other areas.... But hell,
those are the three things i need in a phone,
so im sticking with it for now. But boy,
apple products often drives me crazy for
lacking simple things that are so standard
in current market. I'll give u that.

You know how you have your basic "switch between apps, you can run up to 10 apps (not that you would want to, but hell, you can) you can manage apps" on S60? There you have it. A multitasking platform.
However on S40, you have limited, if any, app managing whatsoever. The only thing you can is listen to music, run Google Maps whilst listening to music, close GMaps and go into the internet (still listening), and then while surfing the web, the internet and music pause if a call comes up. Once that call is over, you resume what you are doing. This is a basic multitasking platform.
The iPhone may have a TON of smartphone features and capabilities, don't forget to add MMS now, but it lacks a smartphone-quality multitasking platform. Does it take away from the look of a smartphone? No, that's why it won our EISA award. Does it take away from the FEEL of a smartphone? Yes.

Those discount shops often sell overstocked items from other stores.
Apple is very good at managing inventory stores don't get caught out with stock they can't sell, so they don't dump them in discount stores.
You are free to buy whatever you want, Apple and the store's that sell their products are free to name whatever price they want.
The appeal with Apple products is the integrated software iTunes makes it so easy to sync iPods and iPhones.

Just what are you getting at anyway. What that guy said is the truth. The only ipod I could get at a good price is the shuffle. Any sansa or other mp3 I could find, I can find with a discounted price. Except the Archos; they and Apple never sell discounts. Only student pricing and "refurbished".
And if you wanna get into the console matter, I've seen a PS3 slim in one of those discount electronics stores for ?190

Otherwise it's the same if not worse than the others. If you want really good 3g, then orange is the way to go. Their 3g network is far superior. Vodafone are full of it and being told off for advertising that as we speak.

Therefore I find it just a little suspicious that on a street with dozens of competing electrical retailers, in a market where everything is discounted, Ipods are not. Not even on the internet sites of these shops do you find discounts. Not even in the major mutilpes or the smallest independents. Of course there are variations in cost between different countries - but have a look around 'authorised suppliers' in a single market are and see what differences you come up with.
This would either suggest that every retailer is in league with each other - or that Apple have locked them up somehow with their contracts. Either way it proves that we are all very gullible for not questioning this.

Hm... I cant believe my eyes when I read articles like this
one... I live in New Zealand, the country where iphone 3g
was first launched. I got mine on the day of release and there
was no cue last year.... In fact there isnt even an official
apple store in the entire country. All apple products are
sold through retailers like local electronic store or carrier.
And yet it was first launched in NZ... I like my phone so,
i upgraded to 3gs on the day of launch as well... And it
was worse than 3g launch... Hardly anyone even knew about
it. My carrier had hundreds of boxes of 3gs stacked up, and i
was the only buyer.... And the apple retailer told me that NZ
is few countries in the world where iphones are officially sold
unlocked and no contract..(ofcourse u pay the high price for
it..) Anyhow, in a small conutry like New Zealand with population
of 4 million, and no apple store, always gets iphone very quickly
and unlocked without contract... So it is almost not believable
that other country's carriers are battling and struggling to
sell iphones... The fact that iphone is gsm also increases
my confusion. All carriers in NZ are gsm, so u can basicly
get the iphone and stick in a sim card of ur prefferd carrier.
Is this not possible in other countries? Why all the fuss about
certain carriers contracting with apple ??
Surely im missing some critical information here...

There is no law which says that things have to be sold at a discount.
You want a discounted price, check the Apple site they sell old stock and refurbished units at a lower price.
No-one is stopping you from buying something else, whatever you want, buy factory seconds from discount shops or cheap Chinese copies, it's your money spend it however you want.

More resellers can only be a good thing - but anyone want to take a bet that the O2 and Orange packages will be substantially similar - ie no real price difference?
If you walk around Tottenham Court Road in London, you'll find hundreds of shops selling cut price electronics, literally everything is on sale here at a discount - but not Ipods. Oh no, not even here in the land of the discount can you find any variation in the price of an Ipod. You'll find retailers who offer free downloads on Itunes or a free case for it, but the actual price of the Ipod is the same. Every single time. I don't know about you guys, but to me that doesn't sound like competition, it sounds like price fixing.
