The best phone ever made by any human kind is Htc m8 it never lags, it never gets hot regardless of any game. sg 801 was fine why did they decide to switch to 810. Change must come when it's prerequisite to do so not just for the sake of doing it. Nonetheless, htc for life no matter what

Aluminium has a lower specific heat than the plastic. This means that the fingers will be less heat from 55 degree aluminum than on plastic at the same temperature.

Well, the source may rerun their test on a retail unit when available and it then better show improvement or HTC will have lost all credibility.

Battery life was worst in class, worse than G2, S4 etc. Go check the forums, for the most part, HTC didn't replace the sensors only some users received repairs and even some of those said the problem persisted. The RMAs were offered as marketing ploy.
M8 = Battery smallest size in class is a fact. Although battery life was not worst in class. Dual camera was a terrible gimmick, and, you are right, the loss of OIS was devastating to picture quality. For future reference, you should note that, there are no OEM launchers/UI skins that are as fluid and smooth as AOSP or correctly configured 3rd party launcher used alongside Xposed modules for additional tweaks. I actually trialled an M8 when it was released, screen quality was good but had blue/grey tint which was noted by other users. I went with G3 instead.
M9 = Copper is better for heat dissipation, that is why cpu heatsinks use as much copper is practical, but aluminium is convenient for cost, ease of manufacturing and longevity. Heatsinks have fins to provide maximum surface area for heat dissipation but mobile phones don't. Especially those made from a solid block of metal such as the M8. Blocks of metal retain heat and take longer to cool. And as with any metal, the structure of the crystals plays a part in the efficient dissipation of heat as well. I am sure that a phone with a polycarbonate body (and an sd810 chipset) will cool down quicker than the M9 and its block of aluminium. We should discover if this true when the LG G4 is released. And don't forget HTC have chosen the much maligned 20.7mp Sony camera sensor, which even Sony can't get to take good photos.
Understand, I have been trying to replace my HTC Incredible S with another HTC phone since 2012 and have been forced to purchase other manufacturers due to the inferior design choices made by HTC, IMHO.

None of these machines are made for playing all day gaming (my Vita doesn't heat up at all after playing hours of 60fps racing game). But my Note2, my wife's Note3 even heats up when pushed that much (of course not up to 50C).
You better save your money to buy a console for playing proper games (I don't understand how people play high fps console games on the phone).

Not spectacular, but good enough. Unfortunately plagued by the purple haze burn, but apprently HTC exchanged the burnt sensors for more durable parts under warranty.
HTC M8 battery backup was awesome - in fact class leading. Real life use is different from tests. Also the most fluid and smooth Android phone I've ever used - by far. Admittedly the already mediocre camera loosing OIS was a downgrade.
Still, excluding the camera, till today I cannot find a better mobile phone on the market. And I don't think even the Galaxies S6 & S6 Edge will be able to compete with HTC M8 on any field other then benchmarks and camera performance.
Aluminium does quickly distribute the temperature all over its surface, but it certainly DOES NOT keep the device warm. Heat is quickly distributed to the outer material and exchanged with air, cooling the equipment in the process. Meaning its quick to get hot, but will also rapidly cool down, when not running at full power. These are the basics of thermal conduction.

Looks like Samsung were right to scrap the 810. You'd be silly to buy the m9 now. Pitty really, its too small anyways. Small over heating phone, should be 5.2" minimum.

That update from Jeff Gordon doesn't make any joy because what they can do with the software? We all know what - implement throttling, that's the only way. So the performance will be degraded.

so why don't the people that ran this test, test a lg flex2 in the lineup and put all the speculation to rest. just run another phone with the 810 in it. If it gets to the same temp, there is a problem with the 810 that software can't fix. Personally I think the "software" fix is just PR covering its ass.

This overheating problem is cause by snapdragon 810 ...samsung also claims that snapdragon 810 have an issue of overheating ......but htc cant understand ......they didn't tested soc now face this problem......hahahaha

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't wait to have an over-heating solid aluminium phone burn through my clothes and flesh. HTC has done it again.
Best phones I have owned were HTC (Desire and Incredible S) but nowadays nobody does FAIL like HTC does FAIL. 2012 = FAIL, 2013 = FAIL, 2014 =FAIL and now 2015 = FAIL.
It is like they actually want to go bust. All those designers and marketing execs with no idea how to produce a phone that sells.
It all started back in 2012, when HTC phones battery life was worse than all competitors, HTC put out a press release saying mobile phone customer are not bothered about battery life. Rather then listening to their customers, they decided to tell their customers what they should want. *FAIL*. And it has been all down hill from there.
Then in 2013, awesome aluminium phone with terrible camera and worst battery life in class. *FAIL*.
Then 2014, even more awesome aluminium phone with same terrible camera and smallest battery in class.
And now 2015, same awesome aluminium phone with terrible 20mp camera (the one that is so bad in all the sonys) and using the flaswed sd810 chipset that the clever manufacturers are avoiding (LG will have same problem as they are using same sd810 chipset in LG G4).
But HTC have found the worst possible combination using an overheating chipset and an aluminium case that will heat up and stay hot, as metal does. ***FAIL***.
