I wonder if the "component" shortages have anything to do with flash memory?
Apple has a voracious appetite for it and outlay billions of dollars in prepaying for it to secure supply from most of the world's manufacturers.
What's the go with Nokia executives and their excuses, every time they announce another fall in profits, it's this or that, anything BUT THE PERFORMANCE OF MANAGEMENT.
That Ollie bloke gets paid almost 4,000,000€ a year isn't it time the shareholders started asking which direction Nokia is headed.
What's the point of selling the most phone's if there's no money in it?

all the comments posted here blame nokia for the lack of new powerful smart phones... with 8MP cameras and hundreds of MHz processor.
more than 80% of sales for any phone company are normal, mid-low range phones. any phone should not be judged just by the camera and processor, but also by practicality, price and build quality.
also, nokia uses allot of proven and previously used technology (TFT, 5mp camera, ARM processors, etc..) Comparing with the new technology like OLED screens, witch have a shorter life span and higher price. if you whant to test these devices after paying allot of money be my guest...

Samsung and LG with their latest creative phones are stealing Nokia's share. they are attracting all kinds of costumers with the popular high class omnias/viewtys and cheap cookies/stars that sold millions upon millions in a few months. nokia still making the same expensive boring bulky 5mp resistive screen phones. the n900 is as same as the n97 but with a different OS so don't waste your money on nokia crap. if nokia want to gain share and popularity again then they better consider rolling a slim 12 megapixel HD recording phones with android or meamo OSs otherwise they would fall behind the hard competition coming in 2010.

Every king should have its prince or princess to replace him and keep the throne strong. Nokia is the queen long enough, she got exausted, her main weapon symbian is getting outdated by new, fresh, powerful, vibrant ones, even if those new heavy armoured troops of upcoming months are all Nokia have as last stance for survival of its own jeweled Nokia kingdom. Competition is much stronger, queen Nokias friend the noble Sony Ericsson uses the mighty gift by queen Nokia the symbian, still, but Sony Ericsson is still behind, learning slow, now new races with marvelous names the wm ui king HTC, the mighty APPLE, the strongholder RIM, the unique Palm and the copycats Samsung and LG are stumping all over queen Nokia and its lands, without mercy, they tear eachother apart, for the throne of mobile comunity, throne build to last forever. Nokia is getting old or so bored, one thing is sure, future comes, castles are odd things, i'm afraid that without its Elixir Of Life, queen Nokias days are near the end.
Jesters they are, why they don't unite and dominate the world happy without any losses?
It will be big stumbling in upcoming years for that throne i think.
I'm not Nokia fan, i just like all those companies products exept copycats Samsung and LG. Face it symbian sux, it's only better than java. Lets wait and see how maemo will do its job. Knowing Nokia fans, all r ready to buy even if it's crap.
3gs for joy
Hd2 for modernisation
Storm 2 for bussines
Hero for experience
X6 for music
X3 for androids
N900 for chat addicts
Let best one win.

Nokia in 2009 have really lets is fans down releasing below par Top Class Mobiles,as Samsung an Sony Ericsson are the only ones trying to move Top Class Camera mobiles on,they were not bothered about joining the camera mobile race as the N86 just shows how much they were not bothered,by releasing a mobile that just upgrade the slide an camera on it,an are losing more people switching to other mobiles instead, now 12 mega-pixel camera mobiles out but were is Nokia miles away an no sign of willing to compete,so really letting loads of people down, they are now more bothered about just starting to compete in the touch screen market, but the N97 was to bulky an there other touch screen mobiles made of plastic, an hope they learn now Nokia from there mistakes an start to compete

Nokia just posted a net loss of 559 million euro (834 million dollars) for the third quarter its first quarterly loss in a decade according to the AFP. The loss comes after a reported 20% drop in sales and 1.17 billion euros in write-downs, mostly for impairment charges on Nokia Siemens Networks. Nokia also said that its smartphone market share dropped to 35% versus 41% in the previous quarter. With fierce competition from Apple and RIM, and Palm just launching its Pre into Nokias European stronghold, well, its a good thing Nokias branching out into untapped markets like single-core Atom-based netbooks.

Blah blah blah, Nokia is doomed, will be overtaken by Apple in a few years.(continue ad infinitum)
