lol. this is the most cheap, tactile feedback touchscreen phone from nokia. its specifications almost satisfy my need of a low budget t/screen phone. so, wifi lovers, this is a phone. so, beat it. 3g is the most important thing that should included in a phone. that's the true technology of communication. thanks nokia for 'connecting people'.
have a nice day! ^_^

This seems like a step backwards, it's almost the same price point as the 5800. When are we getting an upgrade to 5800??

nokia is suppose to upgrade features instead its lowering the features. this phone seems to be a joke compared to 5800 even in the price range.

This device when the price goes down will be a bestseller as an affordable touchscreen mobile running a smartphone os. It will probably LG's deserved success with their KP500 Cookie. However I would advise everyone to not ignore the outstanding value of the Nokia 5800.

The problem is: Samsung makes brilliant hardware, but can't program a compatible OS to save their life. The i8510 and i8910 suffer from some of the most unoptimized, buggy Symbian interfaces in nearly a decade. Seriously, my old Sendo X was lightyears ahead of what the i8910 is running now. The phones themsevles are marvels, though. Fantastic design, great build quality, wonderful specs. It's just a shame they can't get the OS coding thing down.
Nokia, on the other hand could optimize something archiac like this 5230 or the N97, into something that performs better than the hugely overspec'd i8910. They just can't seem to make a phone that doesn't creak, scratch itself, or self-destruct over a few months time. Brilliant software programmers, horrible hardware engineers. If only we could get these two to team up, the result would be incredible. Ah well... I'm still hoping Nokia snaps out of their slump. They may never be the hardware leaders again, but Maemo is intriguing, and S60v3 FP2 is still a force to be met. S60v5 should probably be put to bed, though. It's still such a disaster, and it just isn't shaping up fast enough to compete.

Does anyone care about this phone? Really? Why not just get a 5800? It's cheaper, does more, and has better features... Nokia has completely lost their way.

I've held this phone in mid summer... Usually where I work we get Nokia test phones months before they're released... This Phone is much nicer and sleeker than the 5800, smaller in size bigger half a Centimeter in screen.. also brighter screen... for those who have the old version replace it with the new one ;-)

I'm actually surprised that a fixed-focus 2MP camera takes VGA res videos. Although it won't be the best of quality, where the hell are the other companies??? Most notably Sony Ericsson. Their C905 is still on QVGA with a 8MP AF cam...
Not really against SE, but phones like the 5230 do make me want to switch brands these days (I had my old W610 for a few years now...)

**3G has much more coverage than wifi.
** speed of net is service dependent....so, practically u cnt get that much expected speed with Wifi all the time.itz better to hav much wider coverage and relatively good all time available 3G. ** if u want hi speed net then go for a WiMax modem and insert in ur brain...and surf like a humanoid robot :-S ...Stupid.
** Cam is not that bad,if u say abt the pic quality...then i would like to say that u can never expect DSLR quality image with a mobile phone.
**All in all...5230 is the best set ever made by nokia @ the lowest price.

[deleted post]The answer is YES,i do have one, many people posting harrasment opinions because they're tired with a tyrant-wannabe called nokia, but this tyrant can't produce good phones anymore, just minor differences between their device, their loss in Q3 2009 proved it.
