Samsung's marketing is all the blame for their small profits.
i barely see any Apple ads in malls, streets, etc.

While Samsung on other hand has the title of biggest spender on R&D title in the world & Apple is not even in top 15...!
Each component is designed and manufactured by them...so their most of the money goes into Hardware department...!

Official news is out that Samsung will sell 30 million Galaxy S6 units by the first 26 days:

Also samsung does spend money creating touchwiz so it aint entirely free. but thats all common sense really.
