Although Nexus 6 battery issues aren't exactly rare, it's not often it actually explodes.

Entertained myself by destroying, a couple of old and unused phones.
A ZTE F105, a SE Vivaz and a SE T28 (regretting it now, should have saved them).
Anyhoo...

Also breaked the batteries on them, sawing the in half.

The sheap ZTE F105 battery not did start to burn and left greenish-grey smoke.

Whilst the Vivaz and T28 batteries also got extremely hot but didn't burn.

I guess Motorola saved a lot of bucks putting in cheap and hazardous batteries in the N6

Apart from the lack of sd and the non-removable battery, they always have extremely poor battery life, extremely poor sound and lots of software bugs (From a device which is supposed to be best at software with the lack of bloatware). I guess it won't be "premium" if it's good enough.

This phone is a piece of crap. i can't believe its $650 and $700 with taxes...it should be priced at $299. It was full of bugs...i couldn't believe it. Battery overheats when charging, sound quality is poor, camera keeps refocusing while recording video etc... i returned it while i was still within my 14 days. Good riddance. There is nothing like a Galaxy or LG phone.

That's two strikes for Motorola. First some Droid a few years back, and now Moto Nexus 6 smh. My daughter has Moto X 2 gen for at&t. Time to sell it and pick her as Z3 compact.

Every brand has some faulty devices. It's either software, either hardware, but what matters is that it happens to EVERY brand. You don't know it cos the producers hide it very well.. that's all!
If you notice that your device heats up, specially while charging, try to hard reset it a few times. If the problem persists, take it to the service center or to where you bought it from.
Conclusion: you don't wanna die cos the phone exploded in your pocket or on the bed while you were sleeping..

Serves them (Google/Moto) right for making the Nexus range so much more expensive than before (ie. Nexus 5 and 7).

And no, I'm not an Apple fan, by any stretch of the imagination.

My battery started swelling and back case started coming out. I exchanged it with the retailer for an samsung galaxy s6. Thank God I did it that way.
This is very serious issue and moto should work on it soon.

AnonD-60230, 01 May 2015I thought Samsung is the only company worst in making swell... moreNokia is good at that too, I just replaced a swollen battery on mine - although it's 4 years old so it was expected. Basically I've seen it happen with Nokia, Samsung, Sony/Ericsson, Siemens... Every brand I tried except Motorola. I have some ancient Motorolas and batteries are still fine. Although a Moto charger exploded in my hand once, but never battery. :-)
And now Motorola has issues with swelling batteries too. That's just sad.
