well, at the end we are going back to the good old 4:3, much more usable for everything is not a movie.
iPads have always been 4:3 for good reason, i hope now everyone is converting.
I'm waiting for the 4:3 monitors as well (laptop and desktop).

So, once the S2 8.0 is officially announced, everyone interested in an AMOLED tablet should rush and buy the the S 8.4...
Three reasons:
- S price discount (most likely)
- S2 is a 8.0 4:3 vs S is a 16:10 aspect ratio (i.e. movies, series, etc will be much smaller in the S2 than in the S)
- S2 is too wide to handle with a single hand (134.5 for S2 vs. 125.6 for S); mandatory if you use your tablet while lying on your back in the bed or a long chair, etc)

Samsung seriously need to stop obsessing about apple. The original Tab S' weight and thickness were never a problem to begin with. Instead they can concentrate on giving better battery life using the same chassis, which is already of a very impressive size.

Samsung took a u turn on tablets. Last year's tablets were top notch. This year is pathetic, 4:3 screens , smaller screens , discontinuation of the note series. Yeah, Samsung has a death wish.

Sure I'd love a metal frame upgrade but I don't want a 4:3 screen even if it is OLED.
The Tab S is perfectly fine to have until the Tab S3 surfaces and maybe Samsung will revert back to a letterbox screen ratio.
4:3 iPad question - Who on earth would want a state of art (lol) 2015 screen of an embarassing 264 ppi exactly the same as iPad's 2012,2013,2014,2015 - four generations in a row ???????

This tablet will lag just like its predecessor, why won't Samsung put a powerful processor in it? A faster processor than a phone and double the GPU cores to take full advantage of the TDP of a larger tablet. iPad Air 2 is the most powerful fanless tablet, yet Samsung doesn't do anything about it.

You're right about brand appeal, but imagine you running the second biggest cheese brand and you want to be on the top one. What can you do to accomplish that? You know your product is as good as your competitor or even better and the new potential clients is used to listen that "That your chesse is just a cheap copy of your competitor". If don't convice the major slice that your product is better than your competitor in all aspect(don't need to be, it's just seems to be), the clients won't change their minds and after that you need to keep your legacy that your cheese is and will be always better and refined than your competitor til you get to the top. Here my own experience. I have an ipad 3 (new ipad, running ios 6.1.3) and a galaxy note 10.1 2014, in teory (benchmarks, hardware and bla bla bla) the galaxy note 10.1 2014 is better than Ipad 3, but in real experience the only thing that stick me to note is the Spen, cause is a cheap and good solution to take classrom notes. If I have enough money to mantain a wacom pen (with bluetooth and cost about $79) with no doubt I should go for the ipad 3 (or even an Ipad air). Maybe you can have the best cheese of the world, but it if you don't know how to show the clients how good, better and diferent is your product and keep it better than your competior, you never will be on top. And the only way that I see to samsung to accomplish that is not to do a grabish hardware, if they do people will compare both tablets in real world and if apple ipad seems better or equal, you already said about brand appeal. Just quoting the hardware is for the makekting and after sell, and they need to make a good first impress on real usage.
