The reason for the rise is that the phone is cheaper and its runs smoother than most mid-range android devices and its the apps are mostly free compared to the IOS which almost would be to pay-for in almost everything.

It's growing steadily no question. While it's not my personal choice, I've spent a fair bit of time with it and I feel it's a very good operating system with massive potential. Don't be so childish and bitter! :)

Look like you don't use computers much. Even used computer for making documents, graphic and video editing or for gaming? Tablets sucks gor this task, except for viewing videoes or web browsing. Hell, my very old laptop got dual core 2.20 Ghz cpu with 4 GB ram and still outperforms even the mighty android tablets and smartphones in everytask. Nothing can replace desktop or laptop, and yes not even android tablets.
P.s - Can you run crysis on your tablet? Lol.

If Windows phone is to succeed we need a greater variety of devices. We need phones with pens, phones that are waterproof and phones other than Lumia.

Well android is a major step towards an ethical, user-controlled, free-software portable phone, but there is a long way to go. Hackers are working on Replicant, but it's a big job to support a new phone model, and there remains the problem of the firmware.
Even though the Android phones of today are considerably less bad than Apple or Windows smartphones, they cannot be said to respect your freedom. As they are full of spyware and unwanted location software I was not sure how much freedom I goy from Android devices....

LoL compared with Android is a very stable and nice OS that runs the latest release on very low specs, not like androit that need 3GB of RAM and minimum Quadcore in order to run smooth...thats vile indeed...

I'm agree
In fact I find some lag on Moto E phones using newest Android nor Moto X, so I need an powerful phone in order to run Android properly.
Instead WP I run somewhat smooth the OS on Lumia 520 with 512MB in fact I still using Lumia 635 and still going great, not lime my wifes S4 that get very slow in performance matter....
So you receive for what you pay....

Are you implying it's a bad idea to run unoptimized code made for another OS in devices that have slimmed down RAM (since the argument was they didn't need more because they had better efficiency)?
Nooo... In just a few second a denier will appear citing the Candy Crush experiment (which was an iOS app, which is another constrained system like WP that from the get-go demands much more efficient coding than Android).
Here's some food for thought. If an app made for another OS and which is grossly unoptimized for that system is indistinguishable from any other app already available in that ecosystem (if not even praised vs the others), what does that tell you about the crappiness of said ecosystem?
